Thanks Bill – They tell me I am 55, but my brain says 25 – not sure what happened to the time?
October 23, 2013 at 7:57 am #256471Forecast: Highs in the mid-upper 60s, part-cloudy with very little chance of rain.
That looks very appealing.October 23, 2013 at 9:01 pm #256472Friday morning start temperature is supposed to be 32 degrees here. I think the first leg will be with the top up.

"Drive Happy"October 24, 2013 at 8:03 am #256473Gabor has another idea about the rendezvous. I post the PM he sent me here in case anyone missed it. I have an ezpass so the toll money thing didn’t occur to me. I’m agnostic about the waypoint, so long as everyone agrees to the same location. So please discuss.
Gabor to me:If you guys are coming down Rt. 301 through Waldorf, a better place to meet me would be the truck stop right before the Potomac River Bridge. It’s got a huge parking lot and would be a good place to get your toll money ready. Suggest you give me a call or a text when you leave Baltimore. 240-298-2431.
Address for your GPS is12615 Crain HighwayNewburg, MD 20664=Looking at this I think that if Schu is coming–which now looks likely–the original spot at Horne’s restaurant, at the junction of 301 and 17 will be better for him. Hitting that truck stop would mean crossing the river twice for Schu, I think. Schu? But for Gabor it’s probably way better. Assuming everyone is basically on schedule I don’t see any harm in the short caravan–me, Bill and Paul–pulling in at that truck stop to meet Gabor just before the bridge.I’m still assuming Bill and Paul are pulling over just south of Baltimore to meet me at the Crown station/Subway shop on W. Nursery Rd. at the corner of Progress Drive.October 24, 2013 at 8:14 am #256474Schu, hope to see you there. If you do make it, please don’t forget to register for Rock Star parking.
Would hate to see you parked out in the field and not with the gathering of the faithful.October 24, 2013 at 9:56 am #256475I am in as of last night – Lois decided it was my birthday after all…
Ed,Yes – it would mean going over the bridge twice at 6.00 a pop or something. It would be best or me to meet you guys at 301 and 17 farther down the road – I think there is a restaurant called Horne’s or something. Just need a estimated time to meet you guys at that point – anybody have a guess? At this point I do not see rain forecast for the weekend – needs to stay that way.Roy – I will try and register today if possible – hopefully something open – if not regular parking is no big deal.October 24, 2013 at 10:08 am #256476Email I just sent to the organizer:
George,There is a member of our club who did not think that he could make it but has, at the last minute, become free to attend. His name is Dale Schumaker and he will be bringing a MGTDr like the other 6 that have already registered. He hopes to register today. If you could park him with the rest of us in Rock Star parking, please do. That will make 7 of us and we expect no more this year. A pretty good showing of TDrs if I say so myself.Thank you,RoyOctober 24, 2013 at 10:14 am #256477Looks like I missed pre -registration at this point and Rock Star Parking – no big deal – 15.00 at the show and it’s like 100 feet away anyway.
Looking forward to hanging w/ you guys – just let me know timing for the meet-up.October 24, 2013 at 10:43 am #256478Yup…see you at the crown/subway Ed.

October 24, 2013 at 8:42 pm #256482See you guys tomorrow. Hope you all have a nice easy drive.
I can’t believe we’re caravanning down with five of these things. What a show for the other traffic!October 24, 2013 at 9:32 pm #256483Seriously Ed, this is newsworthy. Surely you could do something with it. Eh? I almost want to drive North past the show so I could make a U-turn and join you coming back south.
October 27, 2013 at 2:19 pm #256484I expect that Ed will do his usual expert write-up of the Air & Auto Show, so I won’t bother you with my synopsis. Absolutely beautiful weather. Couldn’t have been any better. But on my way back to the Inn from the show @ 50mph , I looked in my rear-view mirror and, well, here is an over the shoulder shot of my neck, snoopy hat, leather collar and a $1,500,000 1956 Mercedes 300SL Gullwing:
What you can’t see very well, immediately behind him is another Mercedes 300 but not the Gullwing model. That’s about $2.5M relying on my not doing anything stupid. They followed me for about 7-8 miles. Both of these cars were at the show along with other droolworthy autos.More shots of us at the show coming up. We really did the TDr community well with all 7 of us lined up beautifully along the runway with front wheels on the tarmac. A great day with great friends!October 27, 2013 at 3:38 pm #256485Roy, sounds like you all had a great time. Can’t wait to see some pics. Maybe next year mine will be in shape to go. I think the 300 SL Gullwing was checking out your ride…..

October 27, 2013 at 8:50 pm #256486Outstanding weekend with six outstanding gentlemen, Roy, Ed, Bill, Jack, Gabor and Dale.
Oh, yeah, and me.
I’m sure lots of pictures will be coming, but I thought I should post this one without delay. Midst cars worth tens and hundreds of thousands dollars and in fact, millions as Roy points out, the organizers saw fit to recognize our humble TDr club….

October 27, 2013 at 8:57 pm #256487A slightly odd perspective, but this is an iPhone panorama of our seven TDr’s at the show:

October 28, 2013 at 12:40 pm #256489I tried doing that “panorama” thing but I don’t think it worked…
October 28, 2013 at 1:20 pm #256490so when are you guys gonna post some good close up pics of all the TDr’s? jebarry2013-10-28 13:51:14
October 28, 2013 at 3:06 pm #256491He “took the news….in stride”?? Anyone who attended the Auto & Air Show and saw the 300SL Gullwing will know why I am posting this. “In stride”? ..Gimme a break
October 28, 2013 at 4:21 pm #256492Neither knucklehead was injured. Those old Gullwing cars had superior rollover protection!
October 28, 2013 at 7:05 pm #256493Roy, you left just a little too early…
