Glad everyone made it home right–we all did, right? Anyone hear from Gabor?
Here’s my blog post on it. Let me know if I got anything wrong or if I wasn’t snarky enough to Bill.October 28, 2013 at 8:07 pm #256496My favorite shot of the weekend (sorry Bill):
October 28, 2013 at 8:24 pm #256497Bill. That is NOT the signal for “Clear Prop!”

October 28, 2013 at 9:01 pm #256499Great pictures, and commentary Ed. Looks like Yall had a great time.
October 28, 2013 at 10:34 pm #256500Great write up Ed!
The CBBT route cut about an hour off my total drive. Not counting running around Va Beach, I figure my round trip was about 780 miles. Not a bad weekend. And a perfect run…except….
…for the last three miles. I stopped to fill the car. As is my habit I put the car in gear rather than use the parking brake. Finished my fill, got in, depressed the clutch, hit the starter and the car jumped forward. Uh oh. Borrowed a flash light, and sure ‘nuf…totally frayed clutch cable.
Back in, check the road to make sure it was clear of traffic, into gear, started her up…and cruised home at about 3000 rpm…which translates into about 14 miles an hour in first gear. Great fun, in the dark, on two lane blacktop, with no street lights.
But now I have my first winter project!

October 28, 2013 at 10:37 pm #256501As far as my flight, it was in a 1943 Fairchild PT-19.
The “kid” pilot was Michael Kuhnert, from Berlin Germany. Very interesting guy….brief bio is here:

He restored the aircraft himself. In his words, “Und now I fly it around to pay for it!” Has a charter sailboat in the Caribbean. And back in Germany, he has two Messerschmidt micro cars…and a “bunch” of other stuff.

I think I have more work to do then you…October 31, 2013 at 6:38 pm #256510Paul, I have a file of photos of your flight, but I don’t seem to have your e-mail. PM me and I’ll try to send the file.
A great weekend. My charging ports failed on the way home, then close to home, I noticed I had no turn signals. Boy, just like a real TD.

November 1, 2013 at 8:43 am #256513Was there a F6F 3 Hellcat at the show?
November 1, 2013 at 10:22 am #256514John,
No.
The Military aviation Museum’s WWII aircraft are here:
http://www.militaryaviationmuseum.org/ww2-aircraft.html
And WWI here:
http://www.militaryaviationmuseum.org/ww1-aircraft.htmlEvery aircraft you see here are air-worthy.
The Air & Auto wasn’t really an air show. But the museum and their three hangars were open.
The only aircraft flying were the T6 that Bill flew in and the Fairchild PT19 that I flew in. Both are privately owned.
