One thing for sure, you likely won’t see another like it… Not my taste — but it’s different for sure…

Somebody lays a late ’70’s Z28 hood scoop on your MG and you stand back and say “…you know, if…”
    It’s how things happen.

I truly dislike it. But it does look like a well built car.

My question is with a rear engined vehicle why the hood scoop? It serves only to let water in the front trunk area. And if driven only on sunny days, you’re just entering air into the front trunk area. To cool what? But like paul said…to each his own.

I generally like two-tone paint jobs on TDs. This one, not so sure. And the hood (bonnet?) scoop is just wrong.

Despite Ed’s pronouncement, I still think this gentleman has questionable taste. But he does seem to be a good builder. Except it looks like he used wire ties to fasten the front license plate. And they don’t even match! That takes at least three points off the awesomeness rating Ed!

Allen, it’s not a functional hood scoop. So no air or water into the trunk. There are bolts that penetrate the hood to fasten the scoop. But they seem to be pretty well sealed up. I have as many bolt holes in the hood to fasten the center molding.

He must be into Pirates with all the jolly rogers on it. What’s up with 2 different sets of wheels? I agree not my taste either but has some good points too.

skull and crossed axes + spider thing on dash each increase awesomeness by the power of 3, meaning that this car is now mathematically awsome to the 9th power! It’s so awesome it doesn’t need that “e” in the middle–it’s AWSOME!

The flame decals on the bumper make it still AWSOMER, squared again, so like AWSOME TO THE 18TH POWER, WHICH IS AWZUM!! or possibly AWZUUM!!!

No way he’s getting $7,000 for it though. What’s he think he has, a clapped out Speedster?

This appears very much like my kit, except he has the correct replica head light mounts, while mine mount on the side of the grille shell only.  Other than that, and the optional spare tire mount (mine is the standard “fake”), it appears the same — even to some of the assembly flaws.

Note how far down on the rear tub that the snaps for the convertible top are — just barely clearing the engine cover, though he appears to have the piano hinge installed.

Note that he also has the same fitment issues of the engine lid on the rear splash pan that I showed in a different topic.  The angled bottom of the engine lid does not sit flat… So, I’m thinking these kits may have come with bad-fitting parts or very poor/misleading assembly instructions, or both…

Well, it’s getting some bidding action, so some people appreciate it….  This morning it’s at $4550 (Reserve not met) and climbing.  I think location may have a lot to do with the price.  That very nice red one sold in Las Vegas area  for $4000 a few days ago on a “Best Offer”…

What kind of kit is that? My Lafer TI has a body-colored radiator housing, but on all the other TD replica kits I’ve seen it’s chromed.

I’m guessing it’s an early FiberFab.  Up until the late 70s at least, FiberFab sold a basic kit, then had a long laundry list of options such as the chrome grille surround.  Then, later they started including the chrome grille as standard and raised the price on the basic kit.  I have brochures from both eras…
