Thanks for all the feedback.  Found this replica on eBay and the previous owner was not a car guy so knew very little about the car or its history.  He said he was the second owner and according to the VIN, it was built in Nebraska in 1999.  Based on the timing cover codes, the engine is a 1974 Mustang II 2.8L.  Have not identified the transmission, but it certainly looks like a 1974-era automatic from a Mustang.  I am a Mustang enthusiast and saw this car at a price I could not pass up.
