I will replace the cable since it has been in there for 10 plus years or more but don’t think the cable is the problem – it pulls the arm forward and little if any resistance – to me I don’t think it would pull the arm forward if broken and still have resistance. i don’t think the bearing is being pushed out – hence my thought of broken forks -…[Read more]

220 is a bit warm and 225 is real trouble, generally speaking. Assuming your tires are the right size (165/80) you should be able to go faster than 78 with the car (85 or so in mine, according to the speedo, which is within 1 mph at 60). My car is an ancient 1300, upgraded to 1500 sp, old shroud, no header, etc. You should have a bit more grunt…[Read more]

Really a nice car. I love the gray wires and the cycle fenders.

Could be the forks but I’m with Roy–could be the cable is broken but has a few strands (or half the strands) still holding tight. I’d check that first, if you’ve not already.

The Chevette bar bends in the opposite direction than the Pinto unit…I wonder…

Finally got back to working on the car. My back went out over a month ago and I’ve been forced to do almost nothing for quite some time. Lots of chiropractic visits have finally enabled to maintain a vertical position. Yesterday I managed to jack it up and put stands under it. Today I was able to remove the front lamps. I have August and September…[Read more]

Patti came home and said she hit 140. I didn’t believe her and took it out on the PA Turnpike Northeast Extension southbound from Allentown to Quakertown with the pedal on the floor. It is primarily a downhill run but she kept inching up until I had to admit she was right. Eventually she crept to 147. And yes, it was bone stock.

I used to call the Opel GT in my neighborhood “Corvette Jr.” I am very sure–and don’t ask how I know this–that the orange 1973 corvette our shop’s mechanic owned would not exceed 125 mph. Which is why again I ask Bill to divulge more details about his 143mph Opel.

If you were to mount it it would be out at the front of the body beyond the grille. No frame there to mount it to. It also seems to be unnecessary.

That’s amazing, Bill. All that setup, engineering and the rest–and all for autoX work– & no sway bar? Why not?

147mph in an Opel GT? That could not have been stock, eh?
Re the kit in question: it’s so ugly I kind of don’t care what it is. Looks like a Manx or similar buggy that’s been lovingly re-worked by someone with no sense of scale or proportion. -

Does it even need one? My Ford based kit doesn’t use it.

billnparts replied to the topic FiberFab TD – fuel issues? in the forum Chevy/Ford Kits 12 years, 2 months ago
I assume its a frame mounted electric pump. Also assuming the pump makes noise like its running with the key on.Disconnect the feed line from the tank at the pump inlet. If line is open fuel should run out( use a drain pan) An older electric pump might just be getting tired and running intermittently. If you can, stick another pump in it. I now…[Read more]
