Piano hinge ought to let it open way more than 18 inches, Kent. I wonder how the PO got it so wrong.

Looking at my wiring you’d swear liquor was the cause of it!

Amazing garage, Paul. Love the Plymouth too. I would have been a Mopar guy if, when I was 16, I’d have been able to buy a ’68 Road Runner 383 before the Nova came along.

Trial fit of the redesigned fenders and running boards today.
Left side fit seems ok. Front grille fit rather iffy. Once the right side gets mounted I’ll be able to shift things around. Hood closure is off as a result.. I used painters tape on the flanges to minimize scratching during this process. When they come off for paint the reinstallation…[Read more]

All the alignment specs are adjusted at the upper arm mounting point. That strut is just meant to keep the lower arm from folding back on harsh roads.

You can also purchase arms that do not require the strut.

Roy. Two things, one easy, and the other even easier.Easy: what you want isn’t a shift light, it’s a rev limiter. Buy it. Install it. Be happy.Easier: As racers have done for decades, loosen the bracket and rotate the tach so that your required rev limit–5000, say–is at 12 o’clock. Then watch it while you’re driving. That is what it is there for.

edward ericson replied to the topic Original TD for parts, anyone? in the forum General Discussion 12 years, 5 months ago
The motor parts are good. Just the air cleaner parts alone are worthy–often lost and sought after by restorers. The windshield, the dash center cluster. The differential, transmission, stearing…. The hood panels are needed by many restorers to correct crash damage or POs with enthusiasm–but not skill–for customization.Even the steering wheel…[Read more]

Go, Steve, Go.I’m looking about for a low miles donor–less than 100k and something between 1990 and 1996. The later ones will have a valve-piston clash if the cam belt breaks and are said to be “a little trickier in the electronics department.”The guy to find on the speedsterowners site is David Stroud. He popped an EJ22 into his Speedster last…[Read more]

Sounds like a great idea – looking forward to your write up.
A number of guys on the Speedster ( replica ) site have done this w/ great results – you might want to look at some of the postings over there and at least one has done a write up of his install.Dale -
