Don’t quite understand who the end result would benefit. We, who have built/rebuilt our cars know what we have.It might be beneficial to a future owner years after we move on. Not quite sure the work involved in building a data basewould be worth the effort.Just an observation , not a criticism.

I like it. But it’s almost familiar… What do we have that’s comparable?

I think you’re onto something, G. Those lever forces would seem to be easy to measure & think about (mostly). Which means any of us with the no-stoppie problem should be able to think of how to fix it, then look for the pars or do the mods needed.

The exhaust manifold is now a quarter inch smaller? Dudes, I bolted up my share of Chebby small block exhausts and don’t remember ever getting one that was off by that much. But, generally with everything on those cars (chassis, body panels, suspension bits, etc. etc.), I always had better luck starting the end bolts first, just a couple threads,…[Read more]

Years ago they sold a “spreader” for the Chevy small block exhaust manifold for just such a problem.Don’t know if it would work on 4 cyl but an Internet search might turn one up.

They were Whitworth. And original TDs had fasteners with those threads, plus metric threads in the guts (Trans and rear end, if I recall it right), plus (in later years of the TD run) some American nuts and bolts too. It is another commonality they share with our replicas.

If it’s no good you could always put it back, Roy.Carb-wise, would one of those progressive Holley-Weber 2 bbl jobbies fit? And does anyone know if they offer up any appreciable performance boost? I believe Syl Mathis’s beautiful white speedster has that carb setup and I don’t hear him complaining.

If it’s not gone by May, drag the whole rig to Carlisle! I’d sell the TD and the trailer separately, since VWs are so easy to flat tow. That trailer sounds like a beaut–and more suited to a Cobra replica or something similar.

Not the usual 2.3 Ford motor. Maybe an earlier 2.0 or 1.6?
I think with those seats the steering wheel would be in your chest, but everything’s fixable. -

Looks like a nice build – very clean all around except the engine itself, but that would not take long to correct.Who is going to jump on this one? I agree w/ Ed on the seats, but might change my mind after a few hours on the road.

I’m not familiar with the piece on the rear of the crossmember. The piece with the arms on it that appear to be body mounts. My FF kit does not have that. I see that the factory Ford lower control arm strut rods are not presented. Not quite sure how that gets assembled.

For what it’s worth, I look for the “forum” link when I come across a page. Works most times. Wonder if we could get that button bigger or put something on the front encouraging newbies to find us there.
