I trailered the car to a far-away painter last week and he appears to be doing the work.

By the description this car sounds like a great deal. Wish I was in the market for one.

Roy’s car is super clean and the real knock-off wires and fold-down screen make it special. Def worth a look.

There are online helpers that allow you to search many (or even all) Craigslists at once. I’d do a regional search for “MG TD” and one for “MG Kit.” There are plenty around and they’re usually cheap, but you can drop a lot of money in one if you get a little bit attached and start to give a shit. Ask me how I know.

I’m not to conversant in Chevette but there is a club with a forum, and there are dudes who actually race these things. Apparently they’re pretty durable and reliable. Good luck!

Always loved that old Moss TD’amino and thought it’d be great to replicate. Looks like a short T-bucket bed fits perfectly. Alas, not with a rear-engined kit, though.

Wait…does that tub really have an MG logo molded in?

I’d start by inspecting the undercarriage and the front suspension. Check to make sure the beam (assuming this is a VW-based kit) is properly bolted to the chassis. THEN LOOK AT WHAT IT’S BOLTED TO. The frame head is a common place for rust. If it’s real bad the car could start to list and there nothing more dangerous.
