Oh man…I’d forgot about the Chevette diesel. Late ’70s-early ’80s were dark days.

I went with this little cube one which is designed after the Arnolt heaters retro-fitted to many MG TDs in the day. Not as strong as Bill’s but I’m willing to give up a lot to look “period-correct,” and dudes definitely froze their asses in-period.

Should work. I’d dry-fit as much as I could before doing anything rash.
When I put the Soob in Bridget, the muffler tucked up under that splash pan a bit tighter than the previous exhaust. I lined the underside with reflective insulation made just for that purpose, and it worked beautifully. Key was prepping the unfinished glass underneath and…[Read more]

That engine looks really good. And I know you ol’ boys will make everything fit.
I have only one quibble: absolutely do turn the phone “sideways” when shooting video. Do it before you hit the shutter. Your viewers will thank you.

Well, stuff in the frunk will be visible whenever the front lid is lifted. (Wait till you see what I do with the gas tank!) Stuff under the clam will be very much on display whenever the back deck’s propped-up, which will be most of the time the car is parked in public.
I am hoping that my attention to detail will be rewarded by the car’s…[Read more]

Jack points welded, horn pockets installed, grill connected, air boxes made, etc.
Wish me luck on the steering column (up soon!), since that seems to be something of an Achilles Heel for members of this group.

I was thinking heat shield and/or air flow enhancement, not MC relocation. But probably best to see what happens before making new projects for Bill.

I think you’re in the neighborhood now.
Is the MC as tight on the valve cover as it looks here? My only concern would be maybe header heat and its effect on the brake fluid.

(EDIT: I wrote the whole post below before I looked up to find urhonor’s car is a front-engined vehicle. With a Chevette or Ford-based TDr none of what I wrote is relevant. Tow away, I say…but be careful; Roy’s still very right about the main issues with towing light.)
Sadly, reluctantly, I’m with Roy on this one. I say “sadly” because I,…[Read more]

Good luck & keep us posted.
So I had one other thought which is probably off-base but, just spit-ballin’: Is there any kind of residual pressure valve in your system that might (?) somehow create pressure inside the reservoir? I don’t even think it’s possible but I’m trying to see all the angles here.

If it’s leaking I guess it’s due for some R&R, but I’ve not heard of this particular issue before. Is the hose the right size? Did you try just putting a hose clamp? Does the hose have that outside braid like it’s supposed to? I guess you already know that not just any kind of hose is brake fluid safe.
If it’s not the little hose and you already…[Read more]

The whole piece weighs maybe 20 pounds and I’d be using less than half of it. So 10 pounds at the lowest point of the middle of the car.
I’m trying to remove the whole floor to wrap it in aluminum. I’ve drilled out a lot of the rivets but it’s been glued onto the frame tubes with what looks like Liquid Nails, so I’m going to have to slice that…[Read more]

Swept out the garage and took Spydy off the lift because my neighbor wants to use it.
Gonna be working up front, finishing the horn mounts, welding in the frame extensions (probably weld in the rear jack points too) and then the air box for the oil cooler.
After that: more aluminum! Floor, firewall, wheel wells, inner door panels—all that j…[Read more]
