1953 vw miggi suspension rebuild yes hello to all, i got a wild hair and decided to rebuild the suspension every thing. wheels, stock spindles for 2” narrow beam2” 4disc brakes, new tie rods and ball joints (installed at auto shop) torsion bar for narrow beam.
my steering was stiff before now i can hardly turn the steering wheel when the front end is placed in the ground. why does anyone have experience with rebuilding the front end? it’s scary stuff.
i thought i have done a complete good job the steering wheel tells me something different!

  You say the wheels are in the ground. I wouldn’t expect you’d be able to turn the steering wheel

    hello thank you i should have been more specific. you are absolutely correct its a bear to turn but that does not change under way. like wrestling a bear on the roadway. i replaced everything right out to bearings and hubs all around. i went with a 2” narrow beam, narrow beam torsion bar new stock spindles for disc breaks, new hubs, everything! it’s just super still. i still need a front end alignment, tie rods adjustment toe end & out etc. it’s all just crazy stiff. she’s in really great shape but the drum breaks were really bad so i went to discs front and rear. i’m planning on posting pics of the job fairly soon. pretty big job!

  i have another crazy question on my 1953 mgtd vw chassis
  
  i installed a 2” narrow beam with new ball joints, tie rods (for 2” narrow beam) my question is- the original tie rod (long one) had a slight bend in it and i am assuming that bend was intentional to clear the center hump in the pan. could anyone tell me if that is the case or do i put a slight bend in the new one. the alignment shop said they could not align the front with the bent tie rod??? please respond i’m stuck.
