I have a Ford 2.3L with 4 sp. But, it really dos not matter what you are lifting as long as you use the correct equipment. I would recommend a floor jack with at least a 2 ton rating and jack stands with at least a 1 ton rating each. Your MGTDr should weight less than 2000 lbs even with me in the drivers seat. My personnel preferences are excede…[Read more]

Bill,No offence taken. I’ve had that line in my head for years and that was the first chance I’ve had to use it. Sometimes my comments actually pertain to the subject at hand.JohnnyB

Welcome T. J., I’m also building a Ford based TDr. Maybe we can limp along together. I just discovered (for the second time) a wiring diagram for the kit. If you need a copy I’ll be glad to send you a copy. Just let me know via this forum. JohnnyB

Hey fellas, Thanks for the pictures. They really help. So I’m going to fabricate a fire wall/battery box. I’m also glad to see that I’m not the only one who does not go page by page with the manual :)..JohnnyB

Thanks for the quick help everyone. I’m leaning towards billnparts way at first look. The only problem is that my donor and fiberglas body parts are stored on our farm in AL about 50 miles from my “assembly” area. But this way I can think things through as I drive to and fro. Thanks again, JohnnyB

Hello all, HELP.. I should have followed the assembly manual step by step… but I have gone back to try to catch with things ie do them in order. It appears that i did not get a battery box or I don’t know what it looks like. I look at the drawings in the FF assembly manual and it just confuses me. I sure could use some help by way of a picture…[Read more]

I forgot to mention that I’m using a 1978 Pinto, 2.3l with 4 speed manual tranny. Now I’ll try to find someone who can shorten and balance the D-shaft. Thanks all, JohnnyB

Hello pool of knowledge, I just measured for the new drive shaft for my CMC TDr. I was surprised to find that the new length will be from 21.5 inches to 25 inches long. This seems rather short but it looks to be right. I measured from U-joint center to U-joint center. Thanks, JohnnyB, Meridian, MS

Fairwindsnc, Thanks for the quick response. If anyone needs a large paper weight in the form of a heavy duty radiator for a 1078 2.3L Ford Pinto let me know. JohnnyB

Hey to fairwindsnc, Could you tell me what year that Honda Civic radiator cam from? I bought a new radiator for my donor, 78 Pinto, and did not measure the width of the radiator. So I’ve got a brand new 20 inch wide radiator, aka a paper weight. Some experiences cost more than others. JohnnyB Meridian, MS

Hey again guys. I’m also a motorcycle guy(2007 Kawasaki ZX14A ninja). I always ride with my high beams(all four xenon bulbs) on in the day time. I also like the high beam strobes. Now back to yellow lights.JohnnyB

Johnny L. Baxter replied to the topic Fog Lights in the forum General Discussion 9 years, 5 months ago
I agree with Paul. The yellow lights are a myth and the French not only believed it they passed a law that all vehicles will have yellow head lights. This law is about 50 years old and makes me remember why I lived in Germany for eight years and not in France.JohnnyB

I’m also building a CMC Ford Pinto kit, but the fiberglass pieces are about 45 miles away in the shop on my small farm. I’ll measure it when I go over to check on “money pit/Camp house” on Friday 4/3/15. I’m glad to add another “random number” into the hood lottery.JohnnyB
