I thought your parts bin was Dave’s Sharpie mobile.

Module will do it. That was the first thing that got killed. You could also go back to points and condensor, at least for testing. It is the old car person’s tradition, after swapping in the Pertronix, to keep the points kit in the car’s on-board spare parts bin–“just in case.”
Sometimes they do come in handy. -

Compression check. Good one.
I’d still see if I could get her running first though. This is a VW Bug. The only time a VW Bug got ruined in 200 feet was this. And even then–it was only the last 200 feet.edsnova2016-04-25 21:17:15

200 feet?
I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say you did not exceed 35 mph with a car in tow–in gear–in 200 feet….unless you were pulling it with a monster truck or maybe a top fuel dragster. You weren’t doing that, were you?So the engine runs cruddy, does it?But–IT RUNS.Start tuning her up.Check the oil. Got some? Excellent. Add a li… -

The originals had that bulge in the seat back. A lot don’t have it anymore. I always thought that was the coolest thing tho.

I’d start with Pinto/mustang II parts, but you won’t have to go by my idle speculation. Billinparts is a Ford tdr expert who also just happens to know everything about how to find the right part for your car. Wait for it.

Unpacked it today. Damn that stuff is heavy. The jack tray alone probably weighs 70 pounds.
All the parts seem to be there. I could not unload the ramps because my engine hoist is kaput–seems to have leaked oil whilst stored up against the wall. I’ve got to buy a lot of hydraulic oil anyway, so i’ll try filling ‘er up tomorrow and see if she won’t… -

Oh yeah. That looks right. Key I think is that he had to cut down the seat back several inches. Still, that looks like as close to a plug & play setup as we’re gonna get.

Everyone’s invited to The Brass Hammer Workshop & Pub. FYI, that mess of slate in the first pic is just the finishing touch for the three-tiered terrace garden I’ve been building since 2012. I think maybe I sort of earned this…

OK,
so instead of heat I got the 4 post lift. I figured it would be the
hardest sell, but when I looked at a used one and told Karen she
agreed it was a good idea. I didn’t even have to lobby her.The used one appeared to have been in a flood, so I passed on it and ordered new.It is a Pro Park 8 by Direct Lift. Well-reviewed,… -

If it’s just the weld I think the best thing is to have a welder weld it again. Probably be good for another 20 years.
If the tank is corroded, get a replacement VW tank from one of the several fine VW stuff venders–Cip1, Mid American, etc.I’ve been looking at these aluminum tanks but only with the idea of doing major mods–I want maybe to lower… -

Indeed. Styling cues instead of trying to copy the old car. Looks cool but, as Bill can explain, that rear suspension setup was not the best & should be modified.

Yeah, unless you went for the authentic, barely-works wiper motor. I don’t recall Jack’s exact tea setup but I thought it might have mounted high enough for my scenario. Still works, even if not. Especially since Jack won’t have to duck!
