All this talk about bumpers and I thought I’d check mine. Both are the same length although one of the bumpers has the ends which are curved sharper than the other. I believe this is the rear bumper because the other one has a slotted hole in the center to replica the slot for the hand crank of the original TD.

So the 1600 VW engine is inside the rear luggage looking box I guess. Excellent work but not my cup of tea.

I believe the 88 bore is as large as you can go without machining the case and fly-cutting the heads. I’ve seen 88 mm pistons for sale but know nothing about the quality.

Not sure about the chrome shop you mentioned but a lot of folks here in middle Georgia order re-chroming from a California company CALLED “Bumper Boys” (may be spelled bumper boyz).

When I get back to the house I’ll post the explanation of the Fiberfab kit serial numbers that the owner explained to me. Not that it’ll be the same for other kits but may help members with Fiberfab kits.
