We drifted, nothing unusual about that. 😉
But there’s some good engine build info here that should really be restarted and continued in a separate thread! -

I learn something every day.
Now I know about 1680cc VW engines.Does that mean I can leave work and head home now? -

I like Dale’s (schu) approach. If you can wait for a major import show/flea marklet like Carlisle, youwill save a lot of money.
Another source is Moss Motors. A complete front and rear bumper kit from Moss Motors is $550 and includes bumpers, overriders and a chrome nut and bolt set.
If you just need the chrome face bars, they are $220 each. An… -

Pretty sure there’s no such thing as a 1680 cc VW engine. 😉
The first levels of upgrades to a stock 1600cc engine are 1641cc and 1776cc -
Paul Mossberg replied to the topic cowl brackets for TDr? in the forum General Discussion 10 years, 8 months ago
Prototype Research & Development sells the windshield castings (aka cowl brackets) for $410.
That’s pretty pricey. But thought I’d add it to this thread anyway. -

A PS to the above note…
I will post this in the cowl bracket thread also, but Prototype Research sells the windshield frame castings for $410. Ouch. But who knows, someone might think it’s worth it!PMOSSBERG2015-07-21 15:00:25

Good stuff! Thank you Roy!
So we know Daytona and FiberFab are separate companies. What we don’t know is, of the members that simply entered MiGi or MiGi II, which company made their car? -

And some commentary…
CMC is Classic Motor Carriages, based mostly in Fort Lauderdale. They created the famous (or infamous?) Gazelle. Then basically destroyed the TD replicas and a good part of our hobby. The list above is based on how our owners identified their cars.Mostly because of CMC trying to suck the life out of this market, th… -

The list above is excerpted from the info in the registry (link in my signature).
When we created the registry, we did not ask for serial numbers. In part because no one has ever been able to determine exactly what they mean. There is no standard. There seem to be no public records for the various manufacturers that would enable us to interpret… -

You learned more than I did Ed!
I met Gary Rutherford a few times. Gary founded Classic Roadsters Ltd., sold it to the sharks in Florida because he wanted to focus on his boat business. Then bought it back after they tried to kill it. He never mentioned any real production numbers.PMOSSBERG2015-07-20 09:48:03

Honest? I doubt it Bill. We’re far from critical mass as far as our numbers go.I’m not sure we can even determine how the various manufacturers numbered their cars. Did they start at number 1? Or 1001? Did they restart the count every year? How did the many mergers and takeovers affect serial numbers?Just my two cents, probably worth one with…[Read more]

I’ve posted this one a dozen times. Well, maybe not a dozen, but a lot. ;-)When I Googled for pics of the tool, one of my own posts came up fourth in the search results. Beat out lots of retailers.
Anyway, this will help you fasten those snaps on the windshield frame, from inside the car!Available lots of places, especially boat product retailers.…[Read more]
