I agree, nice job all the way around.
What did you do with the radio? Mine was kaput, so I took it out, made a small wooden box mounted it to the back of the dash, made a door and chromed around the edge, like you did, but I think yours came out nicer than mine. Where did you get the chrome trim for the edge? I used some from my local DIY auto…[Read more]

Sounds like lazy, careless workers to me.In a previous life I worked in a tire shop and we followed ALL (and I mean FOLLOWED) the rules.Inflated in a safety cage, checked pressure, etc. We would check the pressure four or five times before we put them back on the vehicle.Always used the factory recommended pressures. At a safety meeting one time,…[Read more]

Current bid is up to $4250.The wonky gas tank alone is enough to make me think twice.(actually not needing a second TDr, living in Illinois, not having storage…[Read more]

Glad to meet you! There are lots of “shade tree” as well as actual mechanics here who will be more than happy to help with you questions. Even more valuable is moral and spiritual support! There are dozens of books providing instruction on working on VW’s out there. I’ve purchased many online as well as my local Barnes and Noble. All you need is a…[Read more]

I was told by a local mechanic my LR would probably need a new paint job. After watching some programs on the Velocity channel that they were able to buff out the surface oxidation, I thought I’d try it myself.I purchased a random orbital from an auto store and some highly recommended buffing compound, took a DEEP breath and hit the power button.I…[Read more]

As I said, just my humble opinion. Julie will attest that I’ve been wrong a lot lately.I hate to start a feud, but one’s opinion of what is “best” of one thing or an…[Read more]

I think the reason http://www.ebay.com/itm/MG-TD-Replica-/272196745465?forcerrptr=true&hash=item3f6030b8f9:g:AwgAAOSwgApW~ygM&item=272196745465 is listed for so much through a dealer, who is going to want to make as much profit as possible. It’s nice, but in MHO, $16k is too much. They may be sitting on it for a while…

Considering how nice your car is, I think your price is fair. Also you’re offering at the “best offer” option.Good luck with your sale.

I’m sure I’m going to cause a stir, but I would NOT leave out (gasp) eBay.I purchased my LR from a seller in Chicago last year, drove it home to Champaign, IL, the next day; a trip of over 150mi. I’ve never had a bit of trouble with it.Make sure you set either a minimum bid and/or a “buy it now”amount. The more pics you can post the better.Hope…[Read more]

Welcome to our group!I’ll agree, you have a very nice car. I like two tone paint schemes. It sounds like you may have some troubles that are not uncommon to middle aged cars like ours.I guess it’s just the nature of the beast.Anyway, I’m sure you’ll love your car and enjoy our “club”!
