Ed, I saw your advice, but it didn’t click.
The replacement cable I bought from a friend, so I got it cheap.I’ll get one from one of those who you linked. Thanks!

I purchased a replacement speedo cable, but when I looked at it, I discovered it is about 2 feet too short!Would they have used a VW Bus cable instead of a Beetle? That’s all I can think of as why it’s so much shorter.

I got my TDReplica club badge just in time for the car show in Bloomington earlier this month. Mounted it on a bar from mgmagic.I think badges give our cars an international look. The TDReplica badges are especially nice!

I’m impressed with your top!
I’m making progress on my window replacement.I purchased some heavy gauge clear vinyl, found a local upholstery repair shop, dropped off the top for estimate. Hope to hear from them Tues.

THANKS ALL!:-)I’m feeling better and blaming myself less since earlier.Like you guys point out, it was the original top and the vinyl tends to dry out over the years and gets brittle.I guess I just forget that everything ages. I called an auto upholstery shop and explained the situation to him. He suggested I might seriously consider a new top.…[Read more]

Just a word of advice about tow bars.I purchased one only to discover my front axle has grease fittings in the EXACT spots where the towbar would fit. I had to return it.No problem with that, but had to go to UPS, it cost $31 shipping and still waiting for my refund check.I’ll have to rent a car dolly if I need to transport my car.I agree about…[Read more]

I don’t know HOW many Corvette owners have waved at me, as I pass them.I think, “You’re driving just another Corvette. There’s not another car like mine in this whole COUNTY!”Makes me feel special!

CONGRATULATION!
I envy guys who are mechanical enough to do projects like yours.I would love to see pics of your car. You’re very patient waiting four months for the titling.I thought things were difficult in Illinois as far as our government goes, but I’ve since learned they are SO needing for cash, they’ll license just about ANYTHING with so…[Read more]

Thanks for the story and pics!I’m definitely going next year!I lived in VABeach while going to Naval electronics school at Dam Neck, back in the late 70’s.LONG before the aviation museum was there. Wish it was, I would have been there daily!I actually was allowed to FLY a guys Stearman biplane at an airshow. I was the last ride for the day, told…[Read more]

Actually the issue wasn’t that the tires were too far forward, but that being WIDER when you turned the wheel it was, in fact the SIDES of the tires that rubbed the bumper. Not much but enough to cause concern.WEIRD…

Here’s another one for all you Jaguar E-types…
And a 1960 MG A. I wish it had older spoked wheels instead of the new alloys.Still a VERY nice car.

I JUST remembered something VERY important things about these wheel and tire setups.I DID have to do some other minor modifications.1) I added a 1″ spacer to the front bumper to move it out in order to keep the tires from rubbing when making a VERY extreme turn, i.e at the farthest wheel turn. I would never imagine making such a turn while moving,…[Read more]

Here is the link for where I purchased the wheels.http://www.mgmagicclassicmotorparts.com/wheels-real-wire-wheel-setsI used the recommended 185/75 R14 tyres from my local shop. They mounted and balanced them for me. You have to provide your own lug nuts, as they don’t come with. I found mine at my local DIY auto store. The rims have 5 lugs and came…[Read more]
