Bill, welcome! As you have already built a car from a kit, only a few people here have more experience than you do. I know you’ll be able to get her done; hope to see you on our Carlisle cruise this year or next…. and the now-annual Oct. run to Virginia Beach!*
My car is a BCW so the dimensions are slightly different from yours. I believe there… -

Hey Ed,
Once you get the heads off, are you anticipating being able to physically see a blown head gasket? (i.e like I was able to see when I pulled the head off of my 1956 Chevy 265 cubic inch engine some 45 years ago????) Or are you expecting the breach to be so small that it will be all but invisible to the eye?As to Va Beach — it is much m… -

Spent a couple hours today on Project Bridget. First I got a block test to try to determine if or how much exhaust gas I had in the cooling system. The test was indeterminate. Twice I got the tester on the rad cap and pumped the ball, twice anti-freeze gurgled up into the tester before it could change color. On the second run the thing was…[Read more]

Check out the thread…Gone and Done It… Placing an original Shell in the FF kit left a gap. I just built it up to where it fit.

The Tru Spokes on mine had a vibration for years I couldn’t get out. Took them off and and ran steels for years. When my son drug them out of my basement and put new tires on them and put them back on the car last Christmas, vibration was gone. Had to have been a bad tire. Like Roy, I love the look of a wire.

The more I learn about vintage racing the better I like the look (and strength) of my stock VW Mangles.

Hey folks,
Current price for these wheels is $1,561.05 US plus $304.38 US for a total of $1,865.43 — not including the machine shop $$ —I think I’ll stick with my home-made hub caps & beauty rings on repainted VW wheels on Emma-Jack -

Dave, you might, fairly, ask: why did you do it? It’s a sickness and I have wrestled with it for years. Wirewheelmania. I had ’em on my Bugeye, my Alpine, my TF, my Jensen Healey, TR6 and now my TDr. I love them, but they are a pain in the ass.

edward ericson replied to the topic wire wheels on e-bay in the forum Chevy/Ford Kits 11 years ago
Roy has been there and done that.
To his excellent summary I will add only this: used wire wheels are a crap shoot because the splines inside the wheels can rust and wear out. If/when that happens they are toast. The same is true of the splined hubs (bolt-on, Triumph TR2/3/4-style) you would buy to mount them on.If you put a good wheel with a b… -
Royal replied to the topic wire wheels on e-bay in the forum Chevy/Ford Kits 11 years ago
I can almost guarantee you that these are not 16″ wheels, but are 48 spoke 15″ which was the popular TD aftermarket and dealer installed size. The easy way to put wires on is with Triumph type adapters, which bolt on depending on your lug pattern. These adapters do come up for auction periodically but you have to be careful that the splines are…[Read more]

Good Job Bill
I feel my driving space is fine on my Fiberfab but always wondered why they made the leg space so much shorter on the passenger side when there is room under the gas tank to allow the same space for the right seater as the driver. On my list of to do items this winter. Cut fiberglass and extend the foot well. -

I am a mere 10-1/2EEEE. Working a Std trans VW.But, I play a big organ (not a keyboard). So clutch, brake, gas is simply E, F, F#. Respectively.
