I’m of two minds on the chromed-up engine. On the one hand, it looks nice and obviously someone has spent a lot of money it. On the other hand, it’s money that could’ve been spent on something more practical, like brakes or gas or oil. Most of the time, the rear deck lid is closed, so who’s going to see it?

Even at $3,500 I’d say you were getting a decent deal if it’s running halfway decent. Good luck, and do keep us posted.

Only thing I can think of is a well-made — and snugly snapped — tonneau cover.

That might look good, Kent, but my “slats” aren’t real; they’re just molded into the mock grille. They were accented with chrome pinstripe tape when I got it, but it had so many gaps that I just pulled it and sprayed it all flat black.

I posted some when I joined the club, but I don’t think the gallery is back online yet. I’ll try to post a couple from another website. Have done quite a bit to it since finding it in a barn outside Montgomery, Texas, though: new top, interior, engine, exhaust, tires, brakes, mirrors. Finish and wheels are original.
