Discovered today that what I thought were plastic cased yellow foglights on my BCW are actually painted metal cased lights with chrome glass surrounds and then some sort of cheap looking plastic mesh front cover over the fronts.
Plastic cover pulled right off but for the life of me I can’t figure out how to open thse things up. I tried a thin s… -

It’s a British Coach Works 1.6 liter GM front engined TD. Got it from a woman in West Jersey who enjoyed it for a couple of years. Emissions/EPA stickers under the hood mention a 1987 date.

At Kent T: My jumper idea failed – popped the fuse. At night it seems bright enough but I may look into a brighter LED bub.

Here’s one I put in yesterday but kept the license plate light in place.

Here’s the “new” third stoplight in place attached to the license plate frame.

Just finished attaching and wiring this to my BCW Model 52. The application is for Motorcycles but the box it came in mentioned that it was a Lucas Copy! I cut a couple of pieces of metal stock and attached to the two screws in the back of the license plate light. The BCW being built in the era of late 1970’s EPA requirements being in…[Read more]

Is that the Chevette Column stripped of all the plastic, or did you install a completely new one?

Thanks Ed.
In light of some of the things you mentioned I’m thinking the best thing to do is keep the rims I have and go with the taller Vanagon 185/80 r14.The whole reason why I went with a TDr was because I wanted something that would be fun without the headache of a 60+ year old car – swapping out wheels sort of goes against my original… -

My BCW front engined TD has 14 inch wheels and it came with Roadking Grenadier p185 – 75 r14 tires.
The tires have some cracks, so I’m thinking about replacing them. The wheels resemble TD’s (round holes) but have 16 rather than 15 holes in them.I feel that the car would look better with slightly higher tires. So here are my questions:1. Be… -

@ Ric. Is this what your BCW and Edsnova has on it?

The Motorcycle Community has amazing looking caps – many are screw in. Does anyone here know if the filler neck for a Harley is the same size as the generic looking cap I posted here? That would be the simplest and most cost effective fix for my particular “problem”

Ricrx7, Somehow I missed your post! Did your BCW come like that or did you modify it to be more like the TD? Noticed the dash – phenominal – if you did it let me know what the process was like.
Other thing I noticed was the hand-brake on the driver’s side – mine is on the passenger side and I would love to put it between the seats or on the dr… -

This is like the ugly type I have now.
The really nice ones I see online are all for Harley’s or other bikes, which I’m pretty sure are smaller in diameter than a generic automobile fuel filler.. -

99.9% of these are motorcycle gas caps! Smaller neck, different thread pattern. I’m looking for a modern plastic underside but with a chrome top.

Thanks Folks! Much appreciated.
It does have a plaque on the firewall with the Brand and a build number, so I’m fairly confident it is a “factory” build.I checked battery connections and other simple stuff but it being 12 degrees here this morning an inpending snow-storm, unheated garage and the electrical issue will either have to wait or be l… -

Thanks Tex. I think the electrical is just a bad alternator. If it’s more involved I’ll share on this site.

Thanks Langan. Was thinking that may be the issue – I charge it – it runs fine but I was probably running lights, radio, heater blower, etc. off the battery and when I stopped the thing was dead.
Yesterday it sat dead for a while in front of NAPA. We tested it and the battery had nothing in it. Then it sat for a while and in the process of pu… -

Hood opens on either side with a hinge down the middle like a TF. Cable actuated from inside for passenger (battery) side of engine and then a spring hook inside for other side.
Drove it around Saturday (was warm here – in the 50’s) and by the end of the day the battery was dead (!?!) and I had to roll it to get it started. Ordered a new ba… - Load More
