No reserve LR on eBay.
But what is that disc shaped thing on the top of the radiator grill?

March 22, 2015 at 11:11 am #263828Duh!!! I should have been able to figure that out if only because it didn’t look like anything other than an antenna.
(At first I thought it was a sunshine sensor that sounded a “put the top down” alarm on the dash.)
March 22, 2015 at 11:26 am #263829Ironically the satellite receiver does not need to be exposed like that. It could go anywhere under the fiberglass since the fiberglass won’t block the signal. And that gas cap looks weird in that position.
March 22, 2015 at 2:16 pm #263830John, of course I knew that the satellite antenna could be mounted under fiberglass. That’s why I thought it might be a sunshine detector.
March 22, 2015 at 3:23 pm #263831it also doubles as a solar panel.
March 22, 2015 at 5:04 pm #263832This was one of 4 or 5 I was watching at ebay and craigslist before deciding on mine, but there was another red LR with white seats, I believe, at Marietta GA too that I’m not finding now. That one was only $5500 as I recall.
This car says $7950 in the craigslist ad. Originally was $9500, then $8950 (wups, edit after rechecking). It’s a shame these cars don’t have higher values for the current owners, and a blessing for those of us buying!Towing it home myself was a big factor, this would have been a 9 hour drive versus only 5 round-trip. Likewise with the others, Indiana and Florida if I remember right. Thanks for the odd object explanation. Never would have figured that out. Looks so out of place.Glad to see I’m not the only one thinking the gas cap didn’t seem quite right over the fake vents. However, the tank used in it makes a clean appearance inside. I couldn’t see where the battery is at either.edit again: Should have looked at email before replying. Ebay had sent me a relisting of this car saying $7500, not sure why that number since it only shows as $4400 if bidding now.LRH2015-03-22 17:11:38
March 22, 2015 at 6:31 pm #263833the battery is under the passenger side seat ..thats a LR build with the gas cap location.all VW powered TDr mostly have Fake louvres
March 23, 2015 at 3:37 am #263834Thanks John, makes sense, so like a VW battery placement I’ve heard– not having ever owned or known much of anything about those old Beetles.
Just realized my forum name could be mistaken for a London Roadster abbreviation with H added, and yet I chose it for other reasons. Was a London Roadster that I was thinking of getting at first. Headlights mounted on the radiator looked good, and different, compared with the plain bar supports on what I eventually got. Then I had second thoughts and preferred the fender to radiator mounted lights.BobMarch 23, 2015 at 10:20 am #263835Bob when I got my LR I had NO Idea of all the different nuances of the different
kit makes..I got mine because of close proximity, price and
condition..for
myself I lucked out that it was factory built and not someone’s iffy garage
project .I
like my custom tubular chassis while a VW bug chassis would have ease of parts
availability . I drove my LR from Roanoke Va to NC coast a 5 hrs drive
..and luckily my guardian angel was looking out for us big time! No worries at all …Good luck,cheersjohnjebarry2015-03-23 11:44:10
March 23, 2015 at 12:01 pm #263836After I got LR I stopped at a local gas station for gas later on I stopped for coffee and saw that the gas cap was missing . Oh Shiiiii .What do I do now ? I remembered reading that it was a boat cap . Went to a boat shop . Told them what I needed .They reached under the counter and pulled out a box of them that they pick up next to the launch . They also had new . 10 bucks and out the door
