January 3, 2016 at 7:21 pm #265014Probably Saturday–but that’s “banquet day” with the whole Speedster ensemble. In recent years we’ve done a TD-only meet at Richard Wobby’s camper. Dude is awesome, as is his wife. If they don’t make it we should still continue the tradition somehow.
January 3, 2016 at 8:18 pm #265015Crash! Looking forward to seeing you again.

January 3, 2016 at 9:07 pm #265016The posts that follow are copied from the Speedster Owners Group. So they are obviously written “to” those owners.
But have no fear. Our TDr’s are more than welcome to participate in all the SOG events.
Many of you have heard this story before, but here is the background that led to the SOG welcoming the TDr’s.
When the New Jersey Replicar Club was active, we had great attendance at the Carlisle weekend; and as part of that, I coordinated hotel accommodations and a Saturday evening banquet.
We had some speedsters in the NJRC. And those owners invited a couple non-NJRC members to come along. One of the “non-members” was Bruce Stumpp.
As the NJRC waned, the SOG grew into what they are today. Bruce is the primary coordinator for the Carlisle Weekend.
With no more NJRC, I continued to hang with the SOG gang. So much so that two years ago, I bit the bullet and bought an Intermeccanica Roadster D.
For many years, Dale (schu) and I were the only TDr’s at Carlisle. Dale is a SOG member also, with a Speedster under construction.
When this group started to grow, and had people that wanted to come to Carlisle, it was only natural to get us invited to join with the SOG. Heck, many of our TDr’s have the same German hearts and chassis as the Speedsters and Spyders. And now, thanks to Ed, we share Subaru hearts!
In the beginning, we held back the hotel info for a month or so to give SOG members first shot at those rooms. Not that we were second class citizens. I think it was more a fear that we were growing too fast. And yes, SOG usually sells out all of their rooms. People end up staying at other hotels in the area.
That changed last year. We now announce the hotel info at the same time on both forums (here and the SOG). SOG also added a long distance award just for the TDr’s. And last year, the TDr was included on the event t-shirt design.
Some day, the TDr group may choose to go off on their own for the entire weekend.
But for now, we enjoy a great relationship with SOG.

January 4, 2016 at 9:54 pm #265024Key word, my man: BOGUS.
I read a story once wherein a TD replica owner showed up at a British car show and was waved through the gate to enter. “It’s a German spy,” he told the uncomprehending dude-at-the-gate.Supposedly won an award.January 4, 2016 at 10:18 pm #265025Here’s the reference for Ed’s story: http://www.caroholic.com/52TD.htm

April 16, 2016 at 2:36 am #265028I am looking at making some last minute arrangements to attend Carlisle next month. Having never attended have some questions for those attending. As TDR is not ready for the road and don’t have a covered car trailer so will be driving truck. What kind of ticket do I buy, general event or non judged showfield? Secondly, assume that cruises referenced in threads would not welcome pickup truck in cavalcade? Lastly have read about informal get together at someone’s trailer and or booking Saturday night dinner with SOG Which one should I be attending?
