The ad, photos and video turned out really well.  They’re asking $14,995 for it.  At that price, it’s a real bargain compared to the cost of restoring it, both in time and money.  It looks great to everyone except a perfectionist like me, and it runs great and it’s fairly fast.  Any potential buyer can be assured that I made absolutely sure that everything was 100% working and that there were no “issues” with it before I shipped it to Gateway.

Frankly the main reason I’m selling it is because I can’t look at it without remembering being cheated so badly by my first mechanic and the first upholsterer.  That still makes me sick.  I did manage to finish off the car in spite of those *&^%$s but it hasn’t helped my attitude dealing with all the residual issues, like the fuel pump and vacuum leak issue that I just fixed.  The issues I had are probably normal for a restored car and right now there are no problems, but by now I’ve just gotten tired of messing with it.  The wife wanted me to sell and I decided that I’d rather use my garage for something else.

FYI, Gateway works on a renewable 90 day consignment.  They aren’t cheap — they get a big commission and an advertising fee, and you have to pay to ship to them out of your pocket (in this case, $1200 to ship in a closed truck from Las Vegas to St. Louis).  OTOH it is a luxury to get the car out of the garage and out of my hair — while my car sits in a well-lighted showroom that attracts buyers from all over the country with a dealer handling all sorts of nationwide advertising and does the negotiating for me.
