While my London Roadster is running, I will need a new top for it. The only gauge working now or correctly is the speedometer, I think. The fuel level gauge, tachometer, oil pressure gauges do not appear to be working at all.
Magic MG does not carry tops that will fit the LR. Any thoughts or other sources?

"Drive Happy"November 15, 2024 at 11:26 am #309203I have a 1982 London Roadster. The top got quite beat up by southern Florida sun and salt-water. I asked around at a few boat shops (coastal Maine), but none would take on the job. That was about 20 years ago so my memory is a bit faded as to the reasons they gave.
I ended up making a new one myself. I ruined a sewing machine and what seemed like a hundred needles but ended up with a not-so-bad job. I did not try to re-make the side window panels, just the top.

1982 London Roadster - "Kit Kat"November 17, 2024 at 1:07 pm #309205I had a top with side windows made at a marine upholstery shop. They did not even have my old top as a pattern. We discussed several times concerning an appropriate design. It turned out well and the cost was a little more than what MGMagic charged for a top. Down side was that I was turned down several times by at least 10 shops before finding one willing to attempt it. Also, I had to wait for a slow down in business – just don’t be a hurry! Fortunately, I live near the Great Lakes. Good luck.
GreggAugust 12, 2025 at 5:39 pm #309406Hey all,
I’m new to the world of London roadster and vw and thought this would be the best place to get some info..I have a 1985 London roadster with a vw engine does anyone know what rack and pinion they used?
thanks for any info

August 14, 2025 at 5:23 am #309408Hi Edward
thanks for info, unfortunately my London roadster was custom built with the square tube frame from London roadster, after hours and hours of research I finally narrowed it down to the rack and pinion they used was from a 1978-1993 vw Rabbit/Jetta/Golf .I hope this helps someone else who’s having the same problem

August 18, 2025 at 11:50 am #309413Hi everyone,
I am going to pile on this topic. Just had a nice weekend at the Woodward Dream Cruise in my London Roadster… until Sunday when I came across a young kid blowing through a red light. Me and another car going through the green met him in the intersection. Thank God that no one was hurt, and luckily the other car hit the red light runner first or my daughter and I may not have been here today. All that said, the car is drivable and the front axle, wheels, etc seem in good shape… but the body needs some work. Any idea where to find replacement fenders, grill, lights, and horn, short of finding a parts donating second TD? I see on MG Magic that they have lights and maybe a grill that would work.August 19, 2025 at 9:07 am #309414Yes, MG Magic would be my first suggestion for lights and grille. With the fenders, give repairing them a shot. Fiberglass is not that difficult to work with. I have redone mine several times over the years. While flat towing in the wet I jack knifed it and destroyed everything forward of the windshield. A few weeks of work and it’s hard to tell anything happened. Give it a shot and learn a new skill.
Glad no one was injured.
