Duh. You know, I never even thought of that!
Although…many years ago, an employee of Classic Roadsters Ltd. was towing a car to a kit car show in Cincinnatti. The car was on the trailer backwards, with a tonneau cover. The roof was not up.The windshield blew out of the car. -

Old Cars Weekly has published a good series of articles about ethanol.
Start with this one:There are links within the article to prior Q&A columns that dealt with ethanol. And check out the pictures in this column, from an owner who claims the corrosion was cau… -

I just heard from the owner. He said that the rails can not be moved to allow for a wider wheel track. Also, the axle can not be moved to balance the load and correct tongue weight. I really don’t think that this would work well for the VW engined TDs (even if your track is <60". I don't want it for a birthday present.

There’s no springs on that axle, it’s mounted directly to the frame, which would give a real rough and bouncy ride to the whole rig.The mechanism that locks the trailer bed level, keeps it from pivoting, looks pretty light and flimsy. Like mentioned, with all the weight on the rear of those rails from our rear engined cars, I would be wary of that…[Read more]

Wish all stations would have this, I treat all my gas with sta-bil , that has ethanol. One of the worse parts of ethanol is that it draws water to your gas tank and not good for the carburator.

Good question for the seller. But my bet is no. Key words “…manufactured by a friend…”This is a home built special.

Since my birthday is coming up, I did go measure. I’d need about 61-1/2″ to the outside of my sidewalls….not quite wide enough. (My wire wheels may account for a bit more width.) Re: balance, maybe the axle is easily move-able as is often the case on single axled trailers.

Very cool.I didn’t run out and measure my car, is 60 inches wide enough for the track on our TDs?And one thought for our tail-heavy TD based cars….the trailer might not balance properly with a VW based TD on it. Just something to think about before bidding.

You should definitely share whatever you learn! And I second your comments on the museum. I had a chance to visit there many years ago (the Reagan assassination attempt car did not exist yet!). Highly recommended. A simply amazing place!

Rob Haettich replied to the topic Fiberfab/CMC serial Numbers in the forum General Discussion 13 years, 6 months ago
I have two TD’s, the first on I bought complete and running. The serial number on the fire wall is FM2410 and that is stamped on a brass plate from FiberFab International. The second one, is not complete, has no paper work with it and the only numbers I can find is 41-0205. raised numbers in the floor behind the passengers seat. Both cars…[Read more]

edward ericson replied to the topic Bumper in the forum General Discussion 13 years, 6 months ago
I have been under the impression that our kits are mostly a bit wider than the originals. My front bumper is 52 inches wide (and looks a hair too narrow, since the front track is a couple inches wider than that). The back–hard to measure on the car–looks to be about 55 1/2 inches, and is about right. 60 inches would be a little wide, I think.

Was there when it was measured. I know, it was longer than the ones on mine.
(I was able to use my car for work all day.)He also has two new doors from a Fiberfab kit. You can probably name a price for them. -
Royal replied to the topic Bumper in the forum General Discussion 13 years, 6 months ago
Bill, I’m a bit confused. My rear bumper is 56″ and my front is “52. I like the 52 better but the 56 is probably more correct. The 56 is ever so slightly wider than the body (rear fenders). 60” sounds too wide????
