LOL Roy! That was funny!Congrats Rocky! First time I drove my Duchess I was sitting on a plastic milk crate. Your “drive” brought back memories!

Tried an idea for installing the new ball joints. Let the trailing arm set in the sun for about 2 hours while the ball joint with rubber boot removed sat in freezer for the same 2 hours. Ball joint lined up and in real quick. Gonna do the same on the other 3 tomorrow. I’ll post photos later.

My solution is NOT elegant?  You gotta be ****in me!  “Whacking the crap out of it is?  (Not to mention that my cap is almost pretty.)  I’m gonna have to look up “elegant solutions” in my dictionary.  I think that you would need a cap made of silly putty for your method to work.

Bill,  Year round?  Really?  Were you living in Pa then?  Although I never drove my TDr (nor my TF-1500) in the snow, I would be afraid of them.  (Note that I do not even drive mine in rain.)  Did you ever put chains on it?  Maybe it’s the salt they put on the roads that gave you that lovely patina?  😉

I figure roughly 80K on mine. The odometer stopped working at 65K years ago.She was a daily driver for a number of years. Year round.

Dating my wife in High School, she ran a 67 Beetle. The washer fluid item I was aware of.

In two weeks I will have owned my TD 3yrs. I keep a diary of every ride I do, starting mileage, where I went on the ride, even if it’s just to the store and back,  and then ending mileage. At this point I have put 18,400 miles on the TD, and loved every second of it.
