The best I know mine is circa 1983 or 1984 from British Coach Works. So a Duchess uses a wood block backing with a T nut? That might encourage me to gamble. I really need that lower bolt replaced so I can true the door, then I can address the slightly sprung lock.oldroadie2012-04-03 13:07:04

Novus works great on the finish of our cars too. I had excellent results removing the haze on my engine cover and rear fenders. It really brought the shine back to them. Newkitman also had great results with Novus on a badly scratched fender.

I believe that this ’60’s model 215cu in General Motors V8 is the same one that was fitted into my brother’s TR6. They were lighter than many cast iron 4 cylinder engines. Is it fair to blame Rover for oil leaks? I think that chronic oil leaks and high production costs were the reasons that GM stopped making them and sold to Rove…[Read more]

So the rope seal and the new style seal are not cross-compatible? One suspects that anything Rover did would have been more likely to leak oil, but I want to be sure.Aluminum V8!! That is too cool.

Yes it is somewhat of a small deterrent. Nobody has figured out how to open the door and get into my car yet (without me showing them.
The drivers side, of course. -

Before you folks go crazy searching….it’s Novus.
And Greg is right. It is great stuff… -

Take some more, both attachments. That also is like having a locked door if you set it when you leave the car, makes it a little harder for someone to get in unauthorized. (Like that really matters a lot, but an added bonus maybe).

Yep! On the inside of the frame just above the door lock. You won’t even know it’s there. Trust me. Look carefully at my pictures….or I could take some more if you are interested.

Roy et all,
I think I’m missing something here.(Perhaps its the Geezer in me) Anyway, are you talking about adding the hook and eye to the front of the door? -

Roy,
That was my point exactly! The “linked idea” is definitely NTO fail-safe!Your approach is a truly redundant system! The best kind of “back-up”! -
Paul Mossberg replied to the topic Color matching in the forum General Discussion 13 years, 2 months ago
Thanks for sharing this!
I remember buying at least a half dozen bottles of “red” Dupli-Color touch-up bottles and markling scraps of fiberglass to find a “match” for my Duchess. Of course that was 1982. Did we have computers in stores then? -

PS: Many moons ago, I was a member, with my TF, of a MGT club. Many members in the club ended putting “Roy’s Door Locks” on their autos.

mrimd, I read the thread that Paul pointed us to. An interesting idea, but I like mine much better. With the linked idea, the mechanism still relies on the “factory” latch. With my very simple hook and eye, it is totally independent and impossible to inadvertantly or accidently open the door since it requires 2 separate actions on 2 in…[Read more]
