So: Liquid Wrench= +1 for getting old masking tape to let go. But Goof Off= +10. Keep it away from your paint though.

John,
Just a thought. Check the right engine case half along the top splitline. If it’s a pancake/suitcase engine (squareback, notchback, fastback) Type 3 I believe, the number may be stamped there. I had one come out of a beetle like that where the PO had swapped the engine with what was available to him at the time. -

OK, Picture this: Came back from Home Depot yesterday with a little through-bolt and an brass acorn nut, plus a spacer, to complete my wiper motor installation. Guys & Dolls, I ordered my shirt one week ago and got it today. That’s a pretty darn quick turn around considering that it was personalized and with the other embroidery. I used a can of paint designed for wood stoves you can get many different colors if you go to a stove shop. Home depot only has black. I even painted the muffler -

mark I used a can of black rustoleum paint (rattle can) from home depot.
also I took my hood off and taped the edges with painters tape ,That way I didn’t have to worry about overspray on the car . I also did the whole engine compartment. ray102012-03-12 22:17:03
