Yeah, but does your 1776 huff and puff? It’s not just about horsepower. It’s about style.
The MG K3 Magnette sported a Marshall supercharger in front of the radiator much like a baby Blower Bentley. It generated 120 hp out of a 1087 cc Woseley Hornet 6 cylinder motor that produced 39 hp normally aspirated. It won its class at Le Mans and the Mo…[Read more] -

Asking prices don’t mean much. Would that they were selling prices.

You should be able to do better, Don. I’d say 2-3 inches less column is possible. This is a “classic” (3-bolt) Grant to a Ford Pinto/ Mustang II column, right? This ebay listing looked promising until I realized that the photo is the same as my VW adapter. I think it’s mislabeled. But something like this must exist for your column.

Moss has a kit now. Back in the day, there were two or three major aftermarket kits. Shorrock and Judson are the two I remember. Eaton might have made one.But for the weak crankshafts, the engine was well suited to these. 8-to-1 compression, small valves, etc. Shorrock claimed TDs could achieve a blistering 90 mph with the supercharger bolted on.…[Read more]

Somebody here does! I remember the discussion about whether or not LCCL was a manufacturer or builder.Nice to see conclusive documentation that London Classic Cars was a builder and not a manufacturer. I may be losing my mind, but at least I’m not losing my memory.Pretty cool that a TD replica builder would be in a city called London!

I pulled the engine to have it totally rebuilt and enlarged to an 1835cc size. We found my valves burned but the rings were in good shape. Obvious heat damage, based on the blue coloring of the metal. I’m going to try for a dual carb set up with two new carbs. I’ve had trouble ever since the last one was put on.We should have her back in run…[Read more]

Ah well, Schu–have a good trip. I intend to attend the Pumpkin Run, and Karen say’s she’s game. Last possible chance: Nov. 5. Guy Fawkes Day. Stoney used to burn Guy Fawkes in effigy in the P-lot. Probably still does. Weather could be iffy but maybe we’ll get lucky.

Ed,
I will have to skip – I am meeting my Son-in-law in NC to look at some
houses. Hopefully the weather will be good the following weekend and I will
see you in PA. -

I don’t know what type of carb you have, but the Solex carb (mine’s a 34 PICT3) has the needle fixed into the valve on the top of the carb( by the inlet hose), not attached to the float – it simply rests on top of the float, going up and down (in and out) to close and open the gas flow as the float rises and falls. It’s very easy to get to, remove…[Read more]

Your son is an artist. I’d love to be able to just watch and ask a few questions while he works. Keep going and keep posting. You’re doing great.Uh, one thing about those torsion springs though: I believe you will have to mess with them. Once the kit’s all assembled, the front of your car will be much lighter than a stock Bug. You’ll have too much…[Read more]

I know they were a factory option on the Lafer, and almost made an offer on one for sale in Norman, Okla., awhile back. But it was white, and I finally decided it wouldn’t get all that much use down here. Maybe a boat shop could make one?
