Well I just got white, marine grade vinyl today. Took the door panel leather/vinyl to Hancock Fabric and matched the color perfectly. Bought 3 yards from a 52 inch wide roll. That’ll do the front firewall, the two sides (front to back), a shift boot, and perhaps behind the seat back. May just stay with black carpet on the seat back. Oh…[Read more]

Havn’t done mine yet. You should be able to handle it as its stretching fabric over foam and stapling it to wood. Be patient, go slowly, and before you know it, you’ll be done and feel fantastic that you did it. And remember…this IS a (and I hate this phrase) kit car.

The downside to a boat tank is that they have no impact or penetration resistance. Not good in an accident, or when the lawyers learn that you didn’t have a tank designed for a car, assuming that you survived the blaze. -

Back when I built my trike I used a 10-12 gallon plastic boat fuel tank.I think it cost around $25 back then I think they run around $35-$40 now. Most fleet farm or farm and fleet, depending on your location. have them,or a boat dealer.

There are a number of sources of replacement tanks in the hot rod and replica markets. They can build a custom tank for big bucks or you can select from their selection of stock tanks. this manufacturer has a number of 11 gallon tanks in aluminum and steel that measure 12 x 12 x 18.
This one costs…[Read more] -

Hi Rick,
The following comments apply to a VW based Duchess
I doubt very much you will find a tank.
It mounted on the floor pan in front of the passenger. It’s approximately 12 inches deep, parallels the center tube, front and back at right angles and the outer side (right side) is angled to match the shape of the outer pan.
Filler tube enters…[Read more] -

I’m happy with my Lafer and not really in the market for another project, but could someone tell me what a “Schweppes car” is?

My best friend lives in Andover, NJ, and apart from a spot of what he called “seepage” in the basement, he and his wife got through it OK. Haven’t heard anything yet from Aaron White in Lake Lure, NC. Fingers crossed.

Roadie,The only other advice I’d give is if you think it’s really unsafe to drive, there’s alway a UHaul Trailer rental for your prized possession.

Hi and welcome to the forum!! Sounds like you’ve found a real prize. The BCW is a quality repilca and being one of the Schweppes cars is something special. The advice on bleeding the brakes is something I would do for sure. You don’t want to lose this one on the way home.
Have a safe trip and be sure to post pictures when you can. -

She’ll be coming to Fort Payne, AL in the north east mountains of Alabama
from Cumming, GA. I think she also needs that drive shaft carrier that
centers the shaft replaced, looked pretty worn out to me when I was crawling
around. Not to many miles on the odometer, seems like under 18K or so if I
remember, but light use implies a lot of dry…[Read more] -

Welcome Roadie. If your brakes seem/are spongy, I’d do a brake bleed to be on the safe side. Where in GA did you get her and where in AL will you be taking her? Also when you get her home don’t forget to visit the TD Registry and give us the particulars. I think you’re the 1st from Alabama.

Whew! Glad Wobby made it. Sounds as if all our TD members weathered the storm. Glad of that. Just keep an eye on the TS off the coast of Africa. It’s a big one and should arrive at the east coast sometime in 10 days. Living in Georgia I tend to keep an eye out for hurricanes and monitor the National Hurricane Center just in case.

I talked to Wobby. He’s ok. House is ok. Ally (his TD) was on jack stands and is ok. His office and garage had two feet of water…leaving behind “mud everywhere”.
