Paul and for those interested in a VW hubcap WITHOUT VW logo so you can attach the MG wheel medallion, here’s a supplier I’ve use a number of times. Gonna get my hubcaps from them when its time.

Try contacting Billy, the proprietor of Foreign Car Werks in Bound Brook. He’s just off I-287. http://www.foreigncarwerks.com/
Tell him that a fellow CJVWS http://www.cjvws.com member told you to call him.
I am sure he can help you out. -

And for older VW based kits, the Bentley “Blue Book” VW manual is a “sister” to the Bentley Red or Orange book.
I have an extra Red Book if anyone is interested. Unfortunately, I loaned my Blue Book to a fellow NJRC member and never got it back.
He is long gone out of NJ…last we heard he had bought an old church in West Virginia that he turned i…[Read more] -

How the %^(* could they fit tires that are three inches too tall?
And the manager is blowing smoke.
It has nothing to do with the kit car body. VW based TD replicas use stock size VW tires. -

I could offer the services of a Phoenix VW shop. They still work on air-cooler engines and I’m sure they would love to see your car. Too bad it is such a long haul from New Jersey.

Hello Mike, and welcome to the club. Do you have any idea of what is wrong with the engine or other parts? Do you have a copy of the John Muir book? VWs should last almost forever if you can keep them alive and that’s this book is designed to do, written for the non-technical reader, it is essential for all VW owners. I believe he even tel…[Read more]

No, They put the wrong size tires on the car, they were almost 3 inches too tall. They did some damage to the body. They finally got the right tires, but I had a manager tell me that if he had known it was a kit car body he would have told me to find another Pep Boys.
Now we are starting the fight over the body. I highly recommend that you use a…[Read more]

Post photos, J byrd. I had my pedal assembly out of Bridget over the winter. bit of a PIA to remove and replace, but not nearly as bad as, say, rear torsion bar reindexing. Everything can be done by you with hand tools, most likely.

Bob,
VWs are simple cars, but they have a high tinker factor. There is always something that needs tweaking. It will be expensive to pay a mechanic every time the noises change.
It is cheaper and more fulfilling to maintain it yourself. Find a VW owner’s club and buy a copy of “Volkswagen for the Compleat Idiot” by John Muir from Amazon.
Besides,…[Read more] -

Thank you all for the welcome
The car was built in Texas. Motor is in the rear and looks like a Duchess. But I do not remember it saying that on the plaque mounted under the hood. It has the bump at the fender not smooh like the Fiber.
I am in Atlanta. Hard to find someone to work on it.
I found one place that I am using and it came highl…[Read more] -

Mark,
It has to be. It’s nothing we admins can control.
But, unless we have someone here that can rebuild the site, we might lose a lot of the pages, like the history, the manuals, the photo galleries.
And I have no idea how much web hosting fees would be elsewhere. - Load More
