Here’s a thought.
1. A flat chrome hubcap that would fit a VW wheel.
2. An MG logo that could be applied to the hubcap.
Faux original steel MG wheels for a fraction of the cost of wires.
We are talking about replicas of original cars.
Why not replicas of original wheels?

BDriver is right about TDs having steel rims as stock…except that the original TD had multiple round holes around the rim. They look oval, but that is because of the perspective and the curvature of the wheel itself. http://www.simoncars.co.uk/mg/slides/w_MG%20TD%20Midget%2019 51%20wheel.jpgI wish they were oval. Stock VW rims would look more original 😉

Thanks Guys
The engine is a 2.3L Pinto with exhaust from the original builder York Sports of Ashland Va.
I enjoy the Automatic, with the tight cockpit I can’t imagine how the 4 speed folks can work the clutch.
They saw wife and I at local cruise in and made me an offer my ego couldn’t refuse.

What great looking car and a fantastic job. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an orange colored MG or replica before. It really looks sharp!

Keep in mind that the original TD used disk wheels with oval vents around the rim. Wire wheels were an option. There’s nothing wrong with ‘original’ wheels.

Great PR for the TD replica. Did they come to you or did you track them down?
I like the exhaust note. What muffler is on the car? Is it stock Pinto or something else?
Is your engine the 1.6 or the 2.3? -

Great piece, Mel and great quality video. What a difference professional equipment can do. I enjoyed that. You, your partner, and the car look terrific. What four cylinder engine do you have on her? Are you happy with the automatic transmission?

I knew I’d forgotten something. Everything on a fibeglass car is grounded to the frame. It’s on the bottom of the car. Grounds corrode even faster than the high connectors.
The Voltmeter can be handy for checking grounds. Set the gauge for resistance (Ohms) and probe the ground side of the light and the frame. Having to use increasingly h…[Read more] -

Great advice from BDriver. Also be sure to check the grounds. On these fiberglass cars ,each light or other accessary must also have a ground wire connecting to the metal chassis .

I’d like to tell Lucas Prince of Darkness jokes at this point, but TD kit car electrics aren’t British. If the engine is in the back they are German. If it’s in the front, they are American.
Start with simple stuff first.
Look at the headlights with the switch off. Are they darker in the center? They could be old and almost burned out. Plug i…[Read more] -
