Bill, where did you get your seats made? You said you ordered extra firm foam. Is this vendor available to me and others? Your interior looks great.

With the top down, I’m spraying each section with Simple Green to remove dirt and oil, etc. I would like to try waxing one fender once I get it cleaned. I’m afraid I still have a small oil leak in the rear, as I’m finding a light coat of oil on the rear fenders and engine cover.I can’t quite figure out how to use a hose, soap bucket and wash m…[Read more]

The fuel gauge is fine…it’s your sender if it’s not reading correctly.
The float arm can be adjusted by removing the sender and measuring the distance to the bottom of the tank. Set your float height about 1/4″ higher (shorter). It should do the trick.
The sender is just a variable resistor like the ones that were in slot car controllers. The…[Read more] -

Yup…a thinner GF will do the trick
Your 215 is 28″ long according to the website I found…didn’t list the Chevette though. Maybe a Chevette engine guy like Larry Murphy can measure his…why not PM him?
That 472/500 cube Caddy is lighter than a Chevy Big Block too.
That head bolt sounds like a PITA…time for the machine shop? -

Thanks Paul. I will start researching some locations in Phoenix this week. I was out today in my London Roadster with the top down and I was doing OK as long as the car was moving. About noon I stopped back at the Speed-o-shop that repaired my odometer on Monday. They found three ground wires not (re) attached. That explains why my inte…[Read more]

I have 3-eared knock-offs on my wire wheel covers. They all seem to tighten clockwise on both sides. I’ve sent the company in that link above a question to see if that wrench will work with my set.

I have a brand new 8″ Ford center section (pumpkin) with 3.55:1 gears and an Auburn posi. It’s all brand new…zero miles.
The axle’s flanges were re-machined for 5 lug Ford (5 x 4.5″) 1/2″ x 20 studs.
The rear is narrow and was to be used in a Buick V6 powered Ford based CMC MG-TD I started to build.
The housing tubes were changed to 3″ straight…[Read more] -

Richard, to set the timing on a 009, you need to rev it to 3,000 RPM and hold it there and set it at 28-30 degrees advanced. Do you have a degereed pulley? This usually backs down to about 7.5 degrees or so at idle.
Did you check to see if it’s “hitting” on all four cylinders? Check your firing order a couple more times…a crossed wire could do…[Read more] -

Had a similiar problem with my Allison with the auto shut off not working. The Allison is a little different in that the filler is the radiator cap. Yep you guessed it. Fuel spilled down my freshly polished grille. Fortunately it wasn’t very much.
You should see the looks I get at the filling station with a gas nozzle sticking out of the radiator…[Read more] -

The spinner nuts are marked “OFF” with an arrow in the direction. They also have a little ? shaped keeper to keep the spinner from backing off. This is my first set of knock off’s so I was just wondering how tight to make them. Didn’t want to over do it if you get my drift.
You would think there would be a better way to tighten these things other…[Read more] - Load More
