Hi Almost,I am getting a late start on Forum use. Better late than never. I am the guy with the BCW/Chevette. The pedal in mine are quite close. Especially the clutch & brake. I can’t wear large shoes. Mine work great with Running shoes. It feels like I am driving with racing shoes. It all works well with me. Your layout looks to be able to work…[Read more]

I purchased the Moss luggage rack for my BCW TD. As the guys at Carlisle saw. It can be mounted to the BCW tire rack. I had to fabricate a 3″ extension bracket, top and bottom mount to clear the tier. Once made the rack work just fine and will hold quite a load. Best of luck with the fiber deck lids.Greg

For what it’s worth, I used the 3M Fast Tack on everything. Welting, interior panels, carpet…you name it.I built my car in 1982. Nothing has fallen off. And the only thing that had to be reglued was a small portion of carpet in the trunk that was glued to bare plywood.

There are two levels of adhesive. One for carpets, the other for hood liners, head liners and trim. The trim adhesive is much stronger stuff. The standard Eastwood product is $6.99 on sale, $12.99 retail. The Eastwood super stick stuff goes for $18.99. I used 3M trim adhesive on my Avanti hood.
After shipping, the $6.99 Eastwood product mig…[Read more] -

The 3M-90 carpet spray adhesive is like $20 in my local auto supply place for the big can. Works good, but Eastwood sounds like the better deal for sure.

Thanks, I’ll check with the local auto supply store to see what’s available, online probably will be half price the way things are down here. That’ll be one project down, who knows how many more to come.

If I were buying a prebuilt or crate, Ild go with Autocraft, Mike and Barry are great guys and have been working VWs for a lifetime. Seconf choice Air cooled Technology Jake is a great source and is a hands on person. Both have custom plans and offer build kits that you can build or add on as you go. This isn’t JC whitney or Mid American. You pay…[Read more]

We’ve been reinventing a procedure for adjusting valves when there is an excellent discussion in the “Tech Articles for VW’s” section of this forum. It was written by Sean Bartnik on Sept 24, 1997.
Did you know that there is a dot on the edge of the fan pulley indication TDC?
I don’t usually read the directions first either.

I used a 3M version of this product to bond a liner to a fiberglass hood. It’s been hanging over a smallblock V8 for 15 years with no separation. You can find it on the shelf at your local parts store. Or, you can start an account at Eastwood.Eastwood Carpet and General Purpose Spray Adhesive 14 oz net AerosolItem #12743 Z @ $6.99

I agree with Paul. The Samba and the Speedster site are full of angry sob stories from folks unhappy with their mail-order mills. There are some companies with good reputations, but they’re not the cheapest builders.

One of their engine color options is Pink.
