Mine is the CMC Ford, and love it. I’m 6′ and lots of head room once your in the car. The problem is getting in and out. Tough to get this 60 year old body that low with the top up. Getting back out is a problem all of it’s own. The side curtains are a REAL pain to get on once you’r in there too. My soulition is just don’t put top up unle…[Read more]

Headroom? Limitless!Seriously though, it varies quite a bit by car. The BCWs, for example, were sold with at least two different windshield heights. By adjusting the top bows (assuming you were making a new top) you could plus or minus at least two inches right over your head. These cars look a little more upright than a B, but that could be…[Read more]

The Ford engines have a little more power, and are more feadilyavailable due to being used in more vehicles. The Chevys are closer in performance to the original MGTD (don’t know if that is a plus!) Both seem to be enjoyed by those of us who have them. As for headroom, you’ll have to ask someone taller than my 5’6″.

Welcome.
Use a Bosch #AL82N alternator. You will have to change to an “alternator style” fuel pump and fuel pump pushrod (short). A generator style will not clear the alternator.
You will also have to change to an alternator stand. The generator stand will also not clear the alternator. An alternator stand works for both though.
The alternator i…[Read more] -

FYI , Classic car Motor oil is $64.50 per 12 qt. case , INCLUDING shipping.
That equals $5.38 per quart, at your door. It is 15-w40 with 1600 ppm ZDDP -

At one of the SVRA events I attened at Watkins Glen, there was a guy with one of these in a “track only” Triumph TR-3. It had 4 Webers on it. He never had it running as good as it should though.
Les Gonda’s MG8 eats small block powered Cobra’s for breakfast.
You sound ready for the I-95 commute! -

Crikies, man! You cut half your own car out of the shot!I had the same damn problem. Too many MGs to fit in the frame. That’s a nice trouble to have.Let’s hope Bill (White MG) and Greg & Debbie (with the cream-colored one) stop by the forum. And oh, yeah, man–those Speedie guys like you! Sorry I blew off the ice cream cruise. I’ll probably never…[Read more]

Yeah, saw that after I posted, Mark. I think those little V8s are hot stuff & in my fantasy life (the life in which I actually have skills in the garage, plus time, plus money) I would build one up stout & stuff it in a Simpson re-bodied Miata Italia & put some funky early ’60s induction on top. Then I’d learn to speak Italian too and cruise it…[Read more]

You can get a VW towbar really cheap. They will allow you to flat tow the car. You almost don’t know the car is behind you. You just can’t back-up with the car hooked up.
These cars are VERY light and you really don’t need a trans cooler as long as you don’t use OverDrive (read your owner’s manual to verify).
VW didn’t sell air cooled Beetles in t…[Read more] -

Ed, it’s a 215 c.i.d. aluminum Buick V8. He wrote in anther thread about the car.
Funny, those engines were a flop when intoduced in the 1960 Buick and almost the same motor in the Olds F-85. The heads were slightly different and one-way interchangeable between the motors.
In the late 60’s, GM sold the tooling to Rover, who used them in the MG8,…[Read more] -

Welcome! I recently bought a Design Classics MG kit in Florida and drove back to Indiana, 1200 miles. It was fun and some times exciting, make sure the cooling system is working right. Have fun.
