I have a 69/70 VW pan with a 1500 CC motor. I purchased this car about 3 weeks ago. Here is my issue. Have you thought about getting a hard start relay? They are really easy to install and they are like 15 bucks.

I have the Muir book, and I found a procedure to adjust my carb on Rob and Daves site. It runs ok once it gets warmed up, but the cold start is miserable. I tried adjusting the choke but it still doesn’t like it when it’s cold. I’ll just keep fiddling with it.

Use a very small screwdriver to pry the bezel edge out. Go slow and shallow. After you get about 2/3 around you’ll be able to take it off. Do it carefully; there’s a gasket in there and the face may be glass.

We’ll I was able to get the speedometer out of the dash. The next thing is getting the bezel off without destroying it. I’m sure they crimp the outer edge after it’s all assembled. I sent Bill an Email looking for advice. Any ideas here?

It’s a 30 PICT – 2, The guy I bought the car from changed the accelerator pump diaphragm, and the float and needle to get it running. I squirted card cleaner in the idle mix port and the idle cut off. But I’ll probably do a more complete rebuild after driving season.
