Sorry to hear your selling, Rich. $6k sounds very reasonable for that car, particularly if it’s as clean and well-sorted as the photos indicate. I was really hoping you’d drive it down to Carlisle so we could see it up close.Maybe the new owner will. You’re welcome any time in the S2000. Those are sweet too.

Hey, Rich: Karen and I are signed up for dinners, Friday and Saturday. We’re looking to get to the grounds early afternoon Friday, driving Bridget, assuming I didn’t screw her up to bad over the winter. If someone has a Tach & Dwell meter I might could use it to set Bridget’s points a little finer than I did with just the feeler gauge last week.…[Read more]

With that engine it must move out rather well – I would love to do a test
drive. Good luck on the sale -

If we end up at too many Photo sessions you are welcome to pilot Ally. For that matter consider Ally yours at any time. Registered for complete weekend with speedsters. Bruce and I have been emailing back and forth. Also a year of ups and downs and hope to start working on a drinking problem, to be identified by an expensive pscho-therapist in the…[Read more]

Richard,
We will be there Thursday unless something changes – I can pick you up
from the field or you can drive Ally over to the hotel and go on the cruise
from the parking lot. You have my phone # – give me a call when you hit the
showfield on Thursday.

I can get you back and forth to dinner and the hotel if you want to go. But you need to let Bruce know if you are coming to dinner!Photo Session is “code” for gathering cars and people together to…[Read more]

Looking forward to it Richard.
Looks like rain, but sometimes it just clouds up and we never get rain.
Hopefully the weather will push off and we can get some sun. -

Let me know. Right now taking George (the motor home) and pulling Ally. Could pull a tandem trailer or even grab…[Read more]

Hi Greg, Welcome to the forum. We are always glad to get new members . Good people and good info here.
The top frames for our cars are simply two pieces of pipe cut and bent to fit. A boat dealer can provide the fittings to attach them to the body and some dealers can make the top as well.
Click on the photo gallery at the top right and look at…[Read more] -

Thanks Mike. Yeah, I think it might be the voltmeter in the dash, but it’s still much more likely that I screwed something up in the wiring. I’ll sniff it out eventually.

Ah, that changes all of our answers Mike.I have no experience with electric speedos. But having no knowledge never stopped me before!
The jumping needle sounds like loose wires or a bad ground. Like you said, check the wiring. The speedometer reading twice your speed sounds like you have a mismatch between the sending unit and the speedometer’s…[Read more]

i fooled with the cable some. couldnt get it out . i moved it aboua 1/2 inch in and out . helped with the needle jumping but still is about double the actual speed. its electric with a short cable running to the pickup just behind the steering damper and wires to the back of the speedometer. there is no extra terminal like on a tach so the only…[Read more]

A real rough guess of speed. On both of my cars the speed is almost twice the RPM, ie: 2000rpm=40mph, 2500-50mph etc. Allow a little to keep the gendarmes happy and motor on! I had my wife follow me in another car to verify this. Don’t know if all kits would work this way, but it is, after all, a Volkswagen in a pretty suit. Except for my P…[Read more]

i would think that the voltmeter and multimeter should read the same thing, assuming the battery is connected and engine running at fast idle.if not , the voltmeter could be defective. take your battery to an auto parts store and get it checked free.better yet take the car .

edward ericson replied to the topic Odds & Ends in the forum General Discussion 14 years, 4 months ago
Aaand . . . NOT the battery. Reads a sweet 14 volts after charge, but only on the multi-meter. The voltmeter in the dash still says 10.5. Stripped the wheels with a wire brush and painted ’em black. This is about my speed, technically speaking. The paint appears to be adhering.

Welcome aboard CH…I agree with Ed. If there are pins at the top corners of the windshield frame, it is very likely your car uses a reproduction MG roof.I’m not familiar with Modern Classic. I look forward to seeing pics of you car!
