Right on. I was about to ask the same thing. Members look at a picture and say “nice looking BCW or Duchess” etc. I look at the picture and say “how can they tell?”. They all look alike to me. Of course I am a newbie. The only other MGTD I’ve seen is owned by a guy in the next town and his is a Dutchess, and I found that you can tell what it is,…[Read more]

Hi Schweppes, Welcome to the forum. That’s a beautiful BCW. I’m assuming by your user name and what look to me like the Scweppes Edition badges on the car ,that it is one of the 50 or less cars produced for the promotion the beverage company ran in the 1980’s. Thanks for sharing the pictures and joining the gang here.I’m sure you know that you…[Read more]

I’m planing on routing the wires through heat shrink and then shrinking the wrap around the wires. That’s what I normannly do anyway. After that I’ll clamp them.

Like I said Allen, I’m nearing 30 years on the road and have had zero problems with “exposed” wiring under the fenders.I would not just leave the bare wires tho.Mine are wrapped in the harness covering. If yours are just the wires, I would wrap them.

Thanlks guys for the responses. I think I’m going to go with the small clamp route underneath each fender where they bolt onto the body panels. That’s once this big, bad rain and sleet and ice mixture that’s supposed to come goes buy.

Rear harness, the same thing.A branch comes of the rear harness and is clamped along the inner rear fender well.

Wow Ed! that is great thinking on the manufacturers part.On Classic Roadsters Duchess, the front harness loom has a branch for the turn signals. It comes out from the lower part of the front compartment. A wire clamp is bolted to one of the headlight cradle bolts, holding it snug and it crosses under the top of the fender to the lamp socket. There…[Read more]

Good job Montie. No one would notice it, but the stereo in my dash is a couple degrees off of horizontal. and has been since 1982!

“Capt Ed”
Must be a snow day there.
I started putting the new stereo in Audrey today. Got as far as cutting the hole (Din 1) size. Really nervious cutting that dash!!! But made it, just the wiring to go. -

My brake lights go out through the fenders into the engine compartment and then hug it. Not sure but looks like maybe back through the passenger compartment under the rug. There’s no wire loom under the pan and I didn’t see anything like that in the tunnel, so My guess is along the channel inside the car.The fronts are down under the front…[Read more]

I’d be out there now if I had the parts I need. Turns out my ball joints have bad booties.
And the tie rod ends–which looked pretty good when I wasn’t looking at them too closely–didn’t look so hot at second glance. So I await new ball joint boots and new tie rod ends. Really thought they’d be here yesterday but no.

Will do on the Carlisle pics. That’s something I can handle. As for shows, I do believe there are one or two west coast meets you might attend. I’d love to drive Bridget out that way, but like you, gotta work. Maybe if/when I get fired.
