I have the dual chrome air horns from Harbor Freight. Awesome sound, great price, about 60 bucks for the 18 inch ones. I have a pair of city horns from Harbor Freight, 9″ for 12 bucks, each have their own compressors.

This computer is running Linux and I will get the message as soon as I post this. My computer whiz son says it comes from the type of hosting something or other blah blah blah, I start losing attention span when he talks computer…[Read more]

All the ones I’ve seen are straight air horns. And not a bad thing to have when you are driving one of the smaller cars on the road!

Not certain as the majority of my VW experience is the engine and Karmann Ghias. But the kater shaft in the Ghia has different splines and the thread diameter is smaller. Plus the years run a year earlier, usually 72-74 grouped together. But you can check http://www.thesamba.com and in the technical tabs they delineate the differences really well. They…[Read more]

Ed, In one of the manuels on the forum, it recommends using the earlier column without the built in lock .
I checked MG Magic’s parts list and they list two different steering wheel adapters . One is for 60-73 VW shaft size .826 ,,one for 74+ VW SHAFT SIZE .670 . This may or may not be accurate. I would have thought the shaft size change wo…[Read more] -

An old modified stock car guy I used to race with must have had a couple 55 gallon drums of red paint. EVERYTHING on his cars that was not made of rubber or plastic was painted red…except the white number on the roof and doors.
He used to say, “If it ain’t red…it ain’t right!!!” -

Paul,
Thanks for the tip on the marine depot for the hood latch. I looked locally and found a local boat dealer and visited their parts store and found two new latch just like the one in the link you gave me. And here’s the best part…price was $8.95 each. And yes, I did buy two. Oooh am I a happy camper. -

If he’s in the phone books you should be able to find him. -

Amen to that too, Dale.I am pondering the logistics of a time-speed-distance rally in/around western MD. Maybe open to Speedsters & TDs, or maybe “run what ya brung.”

Allen,
I tried to get that set up last year if you look back at my post on Carlisle, but it did not work out – not enough time or everyone got there to late or something. Anyway – if more of you guys come I don’t see why it can’t be done.
Good video Ed – fun day for all – Glad Karen enjoyed it and told my wife she missed a good time – hopefully…[Read more] -

Ed,
Loved the video and the idea of such a run. Wouldn’t it be cool if they had a cruise with TDs before the Carlisle show!? -

Hi Wayne, Thats a good looking TD. I like the red and white combination, in fact I like the red and tan,red and black , red and red too. It looks to me that your car is a FiberFab or CMC kit, but the windshield height is lower than many of their kits. Did you shorten it by a couple of inches or did it come that height ? Looks just right to me.
