Page 403 of the Empi catalog has a couple. Amazon has a couple of others. I bought the Empi model 16-9550 from Amazon! It’s okay and the cheapest readily available. I made some modifications to the rear most pocket area by using a black plastic box to convert it to an area to install a USB port, 12 volt receptacle and switches for my seat w…[Read more]

The wipers on my Classic Mini are anemic also.
I thought of the improvements made by “these guys” but could not find my step drill bit so I ultimately decided to not drive in the rain.
(“Bad Obsession” is an apt name for these guys.)

Well-done, Bill.
And Jack—you’re no slouch either.
But the real kings of “if it don’t fit, re-engineer it” are these guys. Link is to the video of them making the wipers work on their Mini. The hell of it is, they DID fit!

I need to do a”1st drive one than the other” run and then report how they compare.
So far, ManyPenny feels more like driving a more refined vehicle meant for current roads…Emma feels more “1952 car-like.”
I’ll be able to find better words once I drive both cars a bit more.

…and I’m whining about making door panels — Great work, Bill — you are my “if it don’t fit, re-engineer it” hero!!

It’s my guess that ManyPenny feels better balanced on the road, than does Emma. Now that you have both configurations, what are your feelings?
Congratulation on finishing this stage of your build. (They’re never done)

Ok. In mounting the fenders I couldn’t get them off the tires. It seems the shock manufacturer moved the location of the threads that held the adjustable lower spring perch. Even cranked up to its limits the tires rubbed.
A local race car shop was able to supply a longer spring, but everything snowballs, the lower control arms had to come off …[Read more]

I think I’ll leave the “V’s” to you and Bill and the rest of the adventurous souls out there in TDr land
— My “other” TDr Emma is a BCW kit that the PO juiced up by replacing the 1600cc single port engine with a 2332cc monster ( which I found out too late was set up for mud racing — could pull stumps but not so great on the highway).
Emma…[Read more]

New springs solved steering issue. New high torque starter solved intermittent starting issue. New fuel pump solved rough running issue. Almost had a disaster when top radiator hose came loose on test run. Bought bottled water at convenience store and everything OK. Now ready for a test run on Interstate. Probably have wife follow in her car.
