Guys:
Just made my hotel reservations for 5/20-22 which gives me all day Friday and Sat. morning to play there. I had to pull some strings to get a room they are in short supply.
Look forward to seeing some MGTD’s there. Inorder to get the wife there she will need to visit some outlets for shopping. Money well spent.

Ed:
That picture sent chills down my spine. We had a meager 15 inches of snow yesterday. One more reason to get myself down to Florida.
I hope you survive the spring thaw.

Thanks, guys. Got the driveway clear, though that big igloo will be there a while. They’re telling us 8 more inches maybe Sunday or Monday. I knew when Karen bought this house (end of August) that this would be a big snow year. Why? ’cause it’s got about an acre of driveway, and I know my luck.At least the power stayed on this time. And the garage…[Read more]

Ed,I’ve been watching the storm coverage on the news but seeing it from your point of view puts it far more serious. Hope you are well stocked on the necessities.Makes me appreciate North Carolina for sure!! I keep looking at your post the other day about the ride around the block . You keep looking at it too and keep the memory alive.Looks like…[Read more]

Hey Dale, I’m in Joppa, MD, in Harford County, about 20 miles north of Baltimore.Bridget just got her new plates & all I really have to do is get the brake lights fixed, so I’m a go. We should definitely look at making a convoy up to Carlisle. I’ll check routes with you as the time draws near.On staying, I wasn’t even looking at staying over, but…[Read more]

Ok guys
After missing last year I will be going again and hope to
have a good time. I will be staying w/ the Speedster
group again as I am restoring one in my garage, but
don’t think it will be done in time for the show, so
should be w/ my TD.
Anyone else coming? How about we hook up for a drive
through the PA countryside? Let me know if you need…[Read more] -

Shoveled the roof off–two tons worth or so. Got down and looked in the mailbox to find:

Ed,
Thanks for the kind offer for the manual, but I have the front-engined
model. Someone out there will need it eventually.
Hope you don’t get too snowed in. Where is global warming when you need
it? -

Hey Will, Where is Allen at in Washington? We seem to have a quorum now!
I did hear from a TD owner on Salt Spring Island up in the Gulf Islands
(Canadian San Juan Islands). Are you still out there? I had thought the
Cascade loop would be a lovely trip as well. I made trip to Victoria Island
with my 86 year old mother this summer and she was…[Read more] -

Gaahh! 10-20 more inches coming. I’ve been calculating snow loads on the garage roof. I calculate that I need to get up tomorrow and shovel the roof, lest Bridget (and the boat) (and all the tools) (and a bunch of other stuff I’m forgetting about right now) be crushed. Figure what’s up there weighs 18 pounds per cubic foot, and it’s two feet deep.…[Read more]

Washington Will, super job….looks awesome!!!
I had used spar varnish on my dash, like 20 coats, took forever. The picture of my dash in my photo gallery is the first rework from the original. I had used a contact adhesive with a veneer, top of the line stuff. After a year I discovered that the heat of the sunlight was actually causing the…[Read more] -

Here is the 1984 Pittsburgh Press article on Fussenegger & his BCW-52. Note he’d done 250 cars by then but “projected” another 150 sales for that year.

I’ll have to remember that when I do mine. I was thinking spar varnish, brushed on. Your way looks quicker and maybe better.

I found the problem. A loose nut behind the steering wheel
. Actually I had the reverse light wire on the negative side and it belongs on the positive side. Also the points were bad. I also think I killed the electronic ignition.

Ed, The Veneer comes pre-sanded, so there is no sanding required. I only wiped it down with a tac rag to remove any dust. The directions said that 1/16 ” coat was equal to 50 coats of varnish. Will

Dick, I have a full assembly manual for the BCW VW kit. You still need? If so, private message me.

Richard, Is it possible that you have developed a short in the reverse light or it’s wiring? That might explain why you have fire when it is disconnected. Larry
