Completed the Pertronix installation this weekend and it is a huge upgrade to my 1974 Mustang 2.3 liter engine. It was a little more effort and expense then I originally expected but working on these cars is a learning experience. I had to add the Flame-Thrower 40,000 Volt Canister Coils as my coil didn?t seem to be compatible with the P…[Read more]

Hi Everyone, The pictures are a little fuzzy but I think the tail lights are from a 53 MG .Don’t for sure when they went to the round lights but some of the last TDs as well as the TFs were equiped with them. If this is correct this company is the only replica to use them except for Allison. Look in Larry’s photo gallery to see a beautiful…[Read more]

Rich, I’m in NH most weekends, some are busier then others but would love to see the car in the driveway. 603*253*9853 or pm me when you’re getting the itch and I’ll see what’s on the schedule.

Nice looking car. I agree Dan. It does look like they used a lot of original style bits and pieces. Swap the taillights for original style and convert it to a single exhaust and it would be very difficult to tell from an original. Except of course that it would be running down the street under its own power. 🙂

That looks GOOD I really like the gas tank and the tag holder I have never seen a kit car with that attention to correct detail , I don’t know the builder, but it lookes like a lot of real bits and pices..

Hi Rich,Sounds like you are really enjoying the ride! You need to put the Carlisle Import/Kit Car Show on your Calendar. May 21-23, 2010. Judging by the miles you’ve been putting on, this drive would be nothing.

Update:
Just turned 4000 Miles since registering the car in June. It only had 12000 Miles on it and it took the original owner 9 years to do that. I’ve done 1/3 of that since June!!! 16000 miles….and, loving it!
Need to plan some longer trips for the fall. Maybe up to the White Mountains. Hey Rob, I might be passing through Moultonboro in the…[Read more] -

Thanks for all the replies guys. Not sure just yet what I’m gonna do. Money is an issue so I can only do a little at a time. I’m planning to paint the car this weekend. There are also a few mechanical issues I’m gonna take care of. Nothing major though. almost took her to the local cruise in Sat. night but it rained. All in all, I’m really…[Read more]

Hi Paul, building a front engine with a 1985 Chevette as the donor car.
Sorry about the manufacturer, meant to say Classic Motor Carriages when they were in business in Miami.
Bouht the kit in 93, thought I would retire from the Air Force and have something to keep me busy, but I stayed in another 8 years , then I worked for Lockheed for…[Read more] -

Good luck Clark.Keep asking questions. There are a lot of knowledgeable people here. And use the search tool. Lots of times you’ll find your answers without even posting a question. What are you building? VW based? Chevette? Ford? What manufacturer? You mentioned “Classic Car Kit”, but I that is not a “name” that I recognize.

Thanks for the great advice and info! I have spent months trying to match up some shocks. I have waited so long to start building this thing that I am having trouble finding parts.
Thanks

Don’t forget, we can post our replica’s on Jay Leno’s garage, and show our babies to the world. It’s free. I know several of us have posted there in the past. Here is my posting from last year.

There are not many MGTD replica’s on the site, but there are some. -

some advice from pinkmg:
Check out http://www.rockauto.com Search for Monroe p/n 31538 and click on More Info. It gives the specs of the shock. I order from Rock Auto all the time. They are reputable and quick.
Or…”bottom line” JC Whitney shocks are as good as any for our application.
Mark also recommended against gas filled shocks. For these light…[Read more] -

My son was driving through a small town in extreme NW Arkansas and snapped this with his cell phone. It appears to be a replica, the wipers are where they should be
. Makes me think about how many are really out there, enjoyed by so many. There is another red one, just need to get the owner to join up.

Paul, nice history lesson, just one correction 🙂
Cobra’s such as mine can be had or built for 25K but if you decide to build one you really need to be willing to put in the effort as these take time, money and dedication to complete. Hope to meet you and others at Carlisle some day as retirement is not that far away. Working on cars and bu…[Read more] -
