Well, we are both tall and balding…but incredibly good looking. So it is easy to understand how one might mix us up!
Mark, your turn!

Thanks Larry. I feel real stupid. You’re exactly right, the place the brackets bolt are clearly visable. My brother built a 48 Jaguar several years ago and couldn’t find any bumpers. He ended up using 32 Ford repops. Look at Speedway Motors website. They have lots of mirrors/lights and accessories that could work on a Migi. The 32 bumpers would…[Read more]

Update:
I will be leaving Friday at noon for our weeklong TD road trip thru the mountains just north of Atlanta. Our problem is our TD is not running for this trip, so to summarize I went thru everything I could think of to find out why the engine locked up so suddenly and without the engine running. It was locked up when I tried to start it. This…[Read more] -

I have not seen one in person, but I have several MG books that have this automobile in it. Looks much like a Singer. The car is nice, but I much prefer the T series. This MG YT makes me think of a bloated TD, a bit puffy compared to the slim trim sexy TD
. One of the early MG’s was called the speckled hen because it had a fabric covered body that…[Read more]

Hi Geoff
Giving credit where it is due, all that good advice came from pinkmg, aka Mark.
But since you asked, there should be a hose between the air cleaner and the PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) valve normally on the top of the valve cover. That’s the PCV hose.
Here’s a good lesson on using vacuum gauges from the Second Chance G…[Read more] -

Thanks for everyones suggestions. Paul, not to sound like an idiot, Where do I find the pcv hose? Also, can you be more specific on how to use the vacuum gauge to set the idle mixture.
Much appreciated!

Great news Geoff…You’ve been waiting a long time.
Changing the fuel washed oil was a great idea. Dump about 16 ounces of Marvel Mystery Oil in about 500 miles before you change it again. this will help free up stuff gummed up inside. Do that a couple of times for the next two oil changes.
Be sure the PCV hose is not collapsed either. It will c…[Read more] -

Hi bgayler, Welcome to the forum. I think the cut outs you asked about are designed to allow the engine cover to clear the bumper overiders when it is lifted . My Daytona Migi bodied cars have the same cutouts you refer to and the cover could not open with them.

I got a brand new motor meter with scrolling and wings on ebay about a month ago for $35.
I’m not sure if I would have spent $150 on this one but it is unique and nicely done

Geoff,
Pictures look great! Here’s some carguy advice. If you leave the radio on and the battery dies, DON’T just charge the battery with one of those new fangled battery chargers. Get in the car and drive it about 60 miles at a moderate speed. Accomplishes the same thing and it’s a lot more fun!
