  • Hey Rich!

Between the terrible economy, and a $1900 mortgage it has been difficult getting the extra money to ship it. It drives me crazy! I think about the car every day. Tax money is coming soon or worst case scenario I may drive it here myself. I fly for free (work for a major airline) so why not?
Either way, I vow to have it here in PH…[Read more]

  • Thanks for the update, sorry I didn’t respond earlier, just haven’t been on the site recently….caught up with other stuff… and our weather has not exactly been cooperating when it comes to doing work on the car…it is in a carport, not a fully enclosed garageRegardsSSIMGTD

  • Steve,
I was just referring to the mention of Carb/Stalling problem in the Ebay ad, and that you mentioned that your car ran but seller said there are some minor carb issues. Could’ve just been a coincidence.

We want to say thank you to all who responded to our question about out MG TD replica and to those who just said hi.  A very nice community to join to get info and share ideas.  Thanks again.  Did have one question for Rich, call me dense, in a response you said “automatic stick shift, very nice condition, minor Carb, stalling problem. Co…[Read more]

  • Just a note on what I have planed for my MiGi kit. I just bought a complete 1952 MG windshield with all brackets less glass, I will have to have it chromed first before installation. I also will add a fuel cap on the engine cover left side as on a real 52 MG, and last I am working on a dash center and am cutting it out of a door kick plate from…[Read more]

  • Hey Geoff!
Didja get that car delivered to Phoenix yet??

  • Bruce,
Great advice from Dan R. These cars were out of production, most brands 20+ years ago. Although MG Magic in Miami, FL has stockpiled some TD Replica parts, any tops they’d have are going to be that old and vinyl doesn’t age well.
As far as getting a frame, MG Magic might help, but getting your top (material part) made by a local u…[Read more]

  • thanks I will look into those, Bruce.

Take a look in the Photo Gallery for the member named “LARRY”. His is a beautiful Allison kit (in Red) but just like yours. Very solid well built kits. Best of luck with it and welcome to the TD Replica club.
There’s also a wealth of knowledge among the members on technical stuff related to VWs. Should be able to get plenty of good advice.

    Rich,
Good guess, yes it is the one in Kensington.  I am not familiar with VW engines so this will definitely be a learning process, but we have a very good auto shop in this area and trust them.  So…..  Anyway thanks again for all the good info.  Look forward to learning more and chatting with other members.

Hi Steve & Peggy, Welcome to the group. It’s great that the two of you are in the replica hobby together. Rich and Ringo have covered the price -value question pretty well, however it is hard to put a $ value on the fun and fellowship you can have with these cars. This forum is a good example not to mention the head turns and thumbs up you get…[Read more]

  • Steve,
Just curious, is this the black and gray Allison that sold recently on Ebay? Seller is in Kensington MD? This one was an automatic stick shift, very nice condition, minor Carb, stalling problem. Coincidence?

    Rich and Ringo,
Thank you for such quick responses to my question.  Yes it is a fully built car and runs, although the seller says there are some minor carb issues.  Your responses are very helpful and gives us a good starting point.
Will be picking our “baby” up this Saturday and will post some pics as soon as I can.
    Thanks again

Steve and PeggyWelcome to the forum.Rich has you pretty well covered on the prices.  You also might want to look under classifieds in the Running cars for sale section in the forum to get some other input. Just don’t be fooled by the ridiculous asking prices that some “collector” dealers have posted on the web.I’m also curious re; whether  y…[Read more]

  • Steve/Peggy,
Take a look at the General Discussion section. ValueJockey started a topic in January and Mark and I both reponded. The market values indicated are still valid.
Also, your message is not clear. Is this a fully built kit? Running? All parts there?
These kits cost $5 to 8K when new back in the 80s and very early 90s. That was…[Read more]

  • What did you do…check the Model T and Model A repro sites and choke on the prices?

  • It wasn’t out of reach for me on the first “Pink MG”!  Of course I sat on the floor to keep my head below the windscreen too!
Seriously, great work and thanks for passing along the tip.
