Steve Crites replied to the topic Pinto engine size in the forum Chevy/Ford Kits 17 years, 4 months ago
Jennifer:
Most likely it’s a 2.3 Liter. The web sites for the Pinto and Mustang II gang will give you some guidance to make sure.
Once you’re sure, check Amazon for a manual. (I prefer Haynes manuals, much more detailed, IMO)
Also check out sites listed under the search for 2.3 Liter Ford such as Racer Walsh and Esslinger, for aftermarket…[Read more] -

Hi Jennifer,
I also have a pinto engine in my MG. Mine is a 2.3 liter, I bet yours is too!
If you know what year of pinto the engine came from you could try a chiltons manual from the auto part store too.
Good Luck -

Andre:
I agree with Larry, it’s just a personal choice. I looked for a front engine replica just because I’d had 4 VWs in the past. They were easy to work on, reliable, and parts were easy to get. I have always kinda been a Ford guy and knew that the 2.3 L ford engines were also easy to get, easy to work on and put out a lot of power with the…[Read more] -

Steve,
One final comment. There are a number of discussions involving the London Roadster. One actually gives the exact info about the company. It was last posted 2006 & is very informative. The were actually made in Inkster, Mi. ( a suburb of Dearborn).

Steve,
One other idea. There is a VW dealer in Southgate, Mi. that has been in the same family for years. You might try contacting Melton Motors in Southgate, Mi to see if they have a line on any of the London Roadsters being as the dealer might have seen some of them years ago.

Hey Steve,
The London Roadster was assembled in Dearborn, Mich. on Michigan Ave, just west of Southfield. After I bought my Allison in ’82 , I visited London Roadster’s shop which at that time was thriving. As with so many it is now defunct. Regarding getting info , you might try the Dearborn City Hall , Dearborn , Mi. & ask for any info that…[Read more] -

Andre, Each type has advantages and disadvantages. Original MG’s were front engine so front engine replicas are somewhat more like the originals, but the VW based cars are much simpler to build and maintain. Parts are still easy to come by for the VW’S.To my knowledge,FiberFab/Classic Motor Carriage cars have the wide fenders,Classic Roadster Du…[Read more]

Hey Paul,
Thanks. Yes it is a first class reproduction. In fact, Kenny Allison showed me a letter in 1982 that he had received from the original MG owners assn. stating that this reproduction was the closest of all in every detail to the originals at that time. The am/fm/8track ( yes, 8 track ) actually worked until about 3 years ago when the 8 t…[Read more] -

I recently purchased my CMC MGTD replica from a guy that had it titled in Maryland as a 1990 Kit Car. He had it at a local dealer which I purchased it through. The dealer gave me a temp tag. The temp tag expired and the dealer told me at first that it did not need to be inspected but when the tag ran out he told me that I could not get the re…[Read more]
