Well you never now what might show up somewhere… 412/411. I did see some hoods for sale in Portage, Wisconsin. So somewhere there might be a hoodless 412. I would like to know if anyone had ever done the install. Seems like it should fit with just modifying the engine cover which I had planned to do sometime anyway. The Daytona MiGi engin…[Read more]

It should work.
Are you sacrificing a waterproof trunk?
I dont; recall what is behind the shell on a migi. -

Not mine, not mine, not mine, and thanks!
I need to do something with the grille though. I believe it’s made of plastic. I was thinking of cutting it out, what’s painted red now, and putting grille slats behind it then painting the grille shell red.
Think it will work?

If he wants $500…BUY IT NOW!!!
Not sure about chroming fiberglass…there are paints that may get it to look almost like it’s plated.
I spent the bucks for the re-chroming but in retrospect, a glassbead and powder coat job would have been the way to go with mine.
You can’t powder coat fiberglass though. -

Not an easy conversion from Super Beetle to regular Beetle front end. CMC/FiberFab had crude adapter that welded on the front of a squared and cut Super Beetle front spine. My first Pink MG had one.
Do you have this Super Beetle to beam adpater?
If you do not have the beam, for what it’s worth: To convert to a VW beam on a Super Beetle pan, you’d…[Read more] -

Most people don’t even know what a VW 411/412 is. I have not seen one, even at VW shows, in decades.
Moorestown, NJ is where the Navy Sea Systems Warfare sight is. It’s about 50 miles southwest of where I live and is considered South Jersey, being fairly close to Philadelphia. I live right next to the Atlantic Ocean near Sandy Hook in town called…[Read more] -

Tom, If you owned a 61 beetle, these levers were round knobs in your earlier beetle. One controls the flappers on the heater boxes, where heat from the engine exhaust manifold is exchanged with fresh air feed by the the cooling fan. Basically, your temp control lever.
The other lever or knob controls flappers under the rear seat that would dir…[Read more] -

Ouch… I have mixed feelings about GB letting Brett go. It’s hard to watch him play for another team. If Aaron Rogers (the plastic kid) stays healthy it might work out. It looks like it will be a long season for us “Cheeseheads”.When I was in the Navy I went to school in Moorestown NJ. Pretty nice area. I guess that’s considered Centr…[Read more]

No 4 lug bolt pattern cars had a king pin front end…these were all ball joint. All king pin cars were “wide 5” bolt pattern
Did you “google” for VW parts, Check eBay and Craig’s List? Severl aof the VW supply houses sell used front beams.
Where are you located? -

GOOD LUCK!!!

No longer available from any MG reproduction parts supplier for a about 10 years now. When they were, they were nearly $1,000.
I had mine rechromed along with 4 bumper overriders and 2 bumper blades…$1,000 to the local plater for that work!!!
Glass bead and powder coat is an option? -

Pat, If you decide to go the Type IV route…post the project here.
It snowed in Northeast Pennsylvania/Northwest New Jersey last night. I live on the central New Jersey coast and it’s been in the high 30’s the last few nights too. Colder than usual this year.
You guys “Cheeseheads”?…Brett Favre is a NY Jet now…go figure!

to add to Paul’s great info:
3M also makes a complete line of gel-coat restoration and care products. These are available at any good Marine supply. I am lucky, we have a West Marine store close by.
Also, 3M and Meguiar make a clear plastic cleaner and “polish” for the convertible top rear window and side windows. It keeps them scratch free and…[Read more] -
