Jeff,
Nice job! Looks great. Sorry I missed you this year at Carlisle – hope you get it done this winter. My 1641 is still going great and I think is sized about right for the TD – it has dual Kadrons which I set a year ago April before last years Carlisle and have not touched the engine other then oil change and valve adjustments. 5,000 kms since…[Read more] -

very nice.
May I suggest that you move the emergency brake lever and heater controls behind the shifter before you go any further.

Hi JFOX,Ringo is right on target. The various manufacturers had their own ideas for the VIN plate. And regardless of their ideas, state motor vehicle agencies often had their own ideas. In general, kit cars use the VIN from the donor vehicle. Although as Ringo pointed out, you will see exceptions. There’s no way I’ll speculate on how the ’84 Nissan…[Read more]

Addendum
There is a vehicle number on my Duchess on the firewall under the hood. In some states this may be the VIN they want for registration, but here they had to use the ’84 Nissan VIN for licensure.

Hello and welcome!
The VIN numbers can be a challenge. It can depend on the type of car your MG replica was built on. With Fords the VIN was on the dash or the door frame, so good luck with that since those are gone. With VWs the VINs were on the dash, under the hood, or on the tranny hump under the back seat. Again, good luck. With Cheve…[Read more] -

Thanks Dale for the info, but the setup on this car is a bit different. It does utilize a vw std tube but the ends of the tube have been modified to use the standard upper a-frame on the ends but uses a lower swing arm on the bottom. It appears that the std spindle and ball joints are used. It was designed to be a IFS (Independent Front Supp. ) as…[Read more]

No it’s not…
A 180 stat should have the car run at 180 if everything else is in good shape and operating properly.
How old is the radiator?
Are you sure the timing belt squeak is not a seized water pump and that’s what is causing the problem?

Steve,
Don’t know London Roadster kit’s, but more than likely it has the std VW torsion tube ( 2 tubes ) front end. Check some of the forums here and find the one that discribes how to remove the small torsion bars from the upper and lower tubes. It takes maybe 4 hours w/ some sweat and a bit of yelling, but you can do it. I did it myself and…[Read more] -

I have one for a Fiberfab kit, don’t know if it will fit yours. If you do not find one let me know and I will measure the length for you. I installed a new windshield frame and did not use it as the old gasket was in good shape. Do you need the chrome lower part that it fits in?
