We are bafffled also, with our side curtains. Zip and button up passenger, after they get in and then have someone snap the snaps on to the windshield, after the drive gets in.

Dennis,
That’s going to be tough. There are probably slight differences between the body measurements between manufacturers. So even if you could find replacement windshield frames, there’s no guarantee they will fit.
Maybe, just maybe, you could shorten the frame you have, and have the glass cut to fit?
Remember anything you do to the frame will…[Read more] -

Paul Mossberg replied to the topic hand brake in the forum VW Based Kits 17 years, 8 months ago
I agree Daytona must have had a way to work around this. I don’t have personal experience with that manufacturer’s car. But the mod I described earlier should have brought the ratcheting mechanism up with the rest of the handle. Hopefully some Daytona owners are reading this!

In the stock position the handle hits part of the firewall that juts back toward the back of the car. Doesn’t have enough travel to engage the brake. When I got the car the handle was in an upright position so you could engage the brake but the mechanism that locks it wouldn’t work. I guess I could modify the firewall but it seems like daytona…[Read more]

My Duchess has the hand brake in the stock position. It’s a long reach under the dash, but it works. I’ve seen some that cut the brackets, bent the mounting plates up and welded in supports so that the handle was easier to reach. Not sure what manufacturer recommended that, but it seems to funciton well.
You wrote that it has not been functional…[Read more] -

This might have been answered already. But start the zipper at the back, do the limbo under the curtain to get into your car and finish zipping it up. Classic Roadsters Duchess curtains zip back ot front, then snap to the side of hte windshield frame. they provided a zipper opening in the side of the curtain so you could reach through and attached…[Read more]

Dayton Wire Wheels used to make a wire for the four-bolt VW. It might only be available via special order now. Except to pay around a $1,000 per wheel. PMOSSBERG39384.493287037

Hi Keith, My car rides stiff but no more than I would expect a sports car to ride. The Frame welds look good (To my layman eyes). I have several minor issues. I am only 5’8″ tall and I was cramped in the drivers seat with my knees in my chest. I was able to move the back of the bench seat to the rear by about 6 inches much more comfortable. I also…[Read more]

Bill Pollard replied to the topic Wire wheels in the forum VW Based Kits 17 years, 8 months ago
This is something that I have learned, the original M.G. did not come with wire wheels from the factory. Owners requested them but it was not offered.
They had steel painted wheels with a small hub cap.
For now I will stick with my wire hub caps and keep looking for two more 2 bar spinners around swap meets. - Load More
