Pink MG,
The weather here is absolutely perfect this week; mid 70’s, clear and sunny. The only thing is that in the central valley of California, we strart fretting about the coming heat as soon as it stops raining. Within six weeks it will be hitting the upper 80’s. By June we’ll be in the 90’s and by July we’ll settle into day after day of 10…[Read more] -

Looks great to me. The mechanically advanced “009” is not really the hot set up. VW Trends did a long article on distributors a few years back. I do not remember the exact recommended distributor, but they trashed the “009”. The choice was one with a vacuum advance and I believe it also had a vacuum retard.
My suggestion is to go for the Bruck and…[Read more] -

I use racing seat belts in my rear engine BCW. The 3″ wide lap
belt is bolted to the tunnel on the inside and to the reinforced
corner of the floor pan (near the rear torsion bar) on the
outside. They have worked very well for me in these mounting
positions and are comfortable. You don’t want to skip using a shoulder restraint —- you and

I concur, Bill. The seat belts may to let you comply with your state’s seat belt law, but in an accident they’re not likely to help you a bit due to the car’s lack of stuctural strength & integrity. Also, I concur to bolt them to the frame or any kind of cross membering you can find. If you do cut & sew to make them shorter, you absolutely MUST…[Read more]

My BCW Chevette based kit uses the Chevette belts. They are mounted though the floor and anchor directly to the frame. The outboard belts mount to a 1/2″ nut welded to the frame rail. The inboard belt mounts to a steel bracket also welded to the frame.
When you mount your belts, whatever you use, be sure to mount them to the frame NOT THE SH…[Read more] -

Bill…go get some spray bomb trunk paint at the Auto Supply store. Powder coating is too slippery. Paint the outside with Rustoleum and the inside with the trunk paint.

Hey you guys,
My wife works with a woman who is married to a guy who has the molds for a fiberglass teardrop trailor, given to him by a guy who used to manufacture them. I have been asked to give him a hand making one since this guy has never worked with fiberglass before (he’s a professional auto upholsterer). A trade for Merlin’s upholstery is…[Read more] -

Frank,I’m just dreaming right now about building a teardrop. I have to finish putting my MG-TD back together first. And my wife would kill me if I started another project right now. She has a list of thing for me to do inside the house! So you were in the military? I was in the USAF from 73 to 77. Hardship duty, Denver Co., Scotland and G…[Read more]

Frank,
The JC Whitney and Automotive enhancements look like the same cap. So whichever gives you the best price makes sense.
If you can only get them in a set of four, you could put a vinyl tire cover over the spare (matched to the top or interior).
I have have set of five, but they are used. No curb rash, but would need to be cleaned up, with…[Read more] -

Hi Frank,
165 R 15 is the correct size.
If it’s a steel belted radial, you will see 165 SR 15.
