Looks like I’m gonna have a V8.
Large chunk taken out of #3 piston. Cylinder wall looks untouched as well as the cylinder head. I have to pull the engine to effect repair, so I’ll keep it for a spare. I’ve already made up a parts list for the V8 conversion. All I’ve got to do is find it. It’s on paper.
I’ll notify the folks at the car show in…[Read more]

Well, it runs. It also blows smoke out the vent on the catch can like a freaking locomotive.I just pulled a compression test. Three cylinders at 150. Number three is sitting at 10. I hope it’s only a head gasket. We’ll see how lucky I get after pulling the head. ☹️

On my London Roadster (somewhat like a Daytona MiGi) only the rear bumper is in the way of pulling it straight back to get out. There is no “apron” around the bottom of the hatch that holds the spare tire. 1/2 the time I remove the bumper, 1/2 the time I jack it waaaaay up and slide it under.

I agree. That came out nice. Someday I’ll have to make time to do something like that.

The 2 brackets in center came with the kit. I had the 2 end brackets made at Goodman Steel in Zanesville. They saved the dimensions in their computer in case anybody else needs them made.
Since they were higher profile than the originals I polished them a bit with a wire brush on my drill press.
Inserting one of the brackets inside the rear…[Read more]

It’s an elegant solution that also looks very TD-esque.

Type A and Type B relays? Who’d a thunk? I am all but certain that I got stung by this during the Bridget build.

Hopefully a London Roadster owner will reply. Meanwhile, you might take a look through the registry for other LR owners and contact them directly. Might get a quicker response that way.

The engine cover and spare tire mounts for the Duchess are beautiful. 😎

Hi,
No hands on experience with an Allison. But to drop a VW motor out of a car, you only need a few inches of clearance to slide the engine back.
On My Duchess, I accomplished that by cutting away some of the fiberglass on the rear valance (wasn’t much, and I followed the rough outline of the engine block. I have to remove the crank pulley…[Read more]

Touche, “touche”!
Voices are the number of participants in a specific thread (not the number of times they have posted; one member posting ten comments on a single thread is still one “voice”).
