My TDR is currently listed for sale on Gateway Classic Cars in St. Louis:

The ad, photos and video turned out really well. They’re asking $14,995 for it. At that price, it’s a real bargain compared to the cost of restoring it, both in time and money. It looks great to…[Read more]

Nice, Tom. Driving!
I like an oil pressure gauge & currently use a Smiths dual oil pressure/coolant temp gauge like this. The correct TD version is more money and only reads to 220F (100C). Eventually I’ll get round to printing a white face to make mine match the other gauges on my dash…
Gas gauge could be a simple ground or broken wire but…[Read more]

Been exactly a year since I picked up the BCW-TD and still loving it! Glass is still absolutely still half full, but I’ll use this as an opportunity to go list the “half empty” things and compare with others who have the same factory built car.
- Oil light goes on and off but the level seems good and nothing else seems out of the ordinary, so I…

Toller. I have to run buy Home Depot and Lowes later today so I’ll check in their hardware department. Ace Hardware is just down the street from them so I’ll check there as well. Wonder if a boat parts supply place would also carry them. Had a friend suggest fasten all but I don’t need a hundred of the hangar bolts. One large and three small will…[Read more]

Long as you’re welding anyway you could just weld the nut on and cinch the ground strap on with the bolt & a washer or two. Good idea to do several ground straps on these cars and/or run a negative ground wire from the battery with a few sets of terminals on it.

What you are describing is known as a hanger bolt. Check local hardware stores. I found one on Home Depot with 8/32 machine threads and #8 course threads on the other end

Another option would be to just drill and tap hole where you want. Then screw in a bolt with nut threaded on, tighten the nut then weld bolt and nut. Cut off head of bolt, clean…[Read more] -

Looking for a few specialty bolts/screws. The best way I can describe it is a self-tapping screw on one end and regular threads on the other end. My TDr (VW based) is missing the grounding stud that grounds the engine/transaxle to the rear fork. Same as a non-VW based car where the battery ground cable connects to the chassis somewhere. I have a…[Read more]

I believe you are right. The Buick is about the same width. My problem- issue- tough decision is I have to spend some pretty good money to get the parts for the Buick. And it seems that stock exhausts for the Buick will not work. So custom headers. Although I can probably modify the headers I have. Of course buying a running 4.3 V6 will c…[Read more]

If I already had a Buick/Rover aluminum V8 that was built as a race motor I would not have trouble making the decision. The RV8 can bolt right to the T-5 with the proper bellhousing, which is available.
That said…check the width of those blocks. The RV8 might be about the same as, or even a little wider than, the 350 chebbie (and so too the…[Read more]

I get slow uploads. Like when I press “submit” on this reply, that’ll take 20-30 seconds to resolve. I can live with it.

The left side bar is empty on the site-wide activity page. It should show the same recent topics and recent posts that all the other pages show.
No solution yet, just recording the problem.

No good solution here. The hosting provider, Dreamhost, while supportive and helpful, effectively says “upgrade to a more expensive plan to get better performance.”
I’m leaving this open though no one else has really complained. Maybe I’m the only one who notices the slow loads.

The site-wide activity and member pages were blank due to a corrupt database table. I’ve got the table restored but the data is a bit behind reality. New activity should start showing up there as people use the site again. I also noticed that the recent topics and replies don’t show on the site-wide activity page. I’ll be looking at that with a…[Read more]
